Is my Android asian phone blacklisted?
Hello! I have a Xiaomi (K40 gaming) phone, I've been with TMobile since 2 weeks ago without any issue, I've just inserted the SIM in my cellphone and everything went smoothly.
Today in the morninrg I've noticed that I had no internet connection, the signal bars were there but no 5G nor VoLTE icon appeared. Plus, I was not able to make any phone call and SMS were not sent either. After a couple of hours, I was able to make and receive calls and SMS, but the Internet is still missing.
I went to a T-Mobile store and one guy there "explained" me that Chinese phones are not meant to work in US networks, that somehow the network it's struggling to connect to the cellphone band and because of the "US situation with China" these phones usually have these connection issues and that at some point, these phones will be blacklisted. Since my phone worked just fine the last 2 weeks, I don't think these arguments are valid at all.
On the other hand, I called to customer service and they've raised a report for the technical team to investigate.
Is this blacklisting a real thing? Any clue on why T-Mobile restricted my service?

I don't know if carriers on Asia SIM lock their devices to carriers. However, Android devices can receive a temporary SIM unlock for carriers that permit that. Is it possible that these devices were only tporarily SIM unlocked?

The phones have been working for years until Monday. The Note 6s was originally purchased back in 2018, and the Note 7 was purchased in 2019 from a different shop.
*update, the Note 7 is working again with LTE data, but it took over ½ a day to register it back on the mobile network. I'm wary to swap the SIM card again as it's probably gonna lose data service again. - JashyRoaming Rookie
Ok I’m not sure which phone you wanted it for but here are the phones in question:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 5G: FCC ID: 2AFZZ16SG
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S FCC ID: 2AFZZJ6A1G
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 : FCC ID: 2AFZZ-RMSF7G (phone working with mobile data)Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro FCC ID: 2AFZZ-RMSE7TH

If you Google the id's you get this. I only did the first one.

That document was for the phone's Ad-Hoc mode which was disabled, (no peer to peer connectivity) there is another document for LTE B40 which I don't believe the phone is capable of doing. Other than that, I didn't see anything that stated that it 5g/LTE service was blocked for the FCC ID for the phone.
I do appreciate all the assistance from the community!

Greetings all! SAME PROBLEM! I've had the same Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite for years. Nary a problem. Two days ago. Nothing. Except for wifi.
What is going on!!

I was actually addressing the OP @IvanOA but that’s OK. It’s not always easy to find specs on some of these Chinese phones so having the FCC ID allows me to go to the FCC website (EA database) and look up which US bands and standards it was tested to be in compliance with. The Note 15 5G above seems to have just about every T-Mobile LTE & 5G band except 71. Why it wouldn't work is kind of a head scratcher.

Getting VoLTE and VoNR to work on them that is compatible with T-Mobile can be why. Sometimes an update to the device can change the carrier profile, roving compatibility for VoLTE and VoNR that works with T-Mobile USA. These devices might have the correct bands but VoLTE and or VoNR also needs to be compatible to make and receive calls.

I wish it was easier to find information about VoLTE & VoNR. All I know about them is you got it or you don’t and if you buy a phone not designed for the US market, it maybe won’t work.
