June 2024 Pixel/Android Update?

Has anyone heard when T-Mobile is going to release the June 2024 update for Pixel devices? There is a gap in security and it seems that T-Mobile is delaying the release on this important update. Google released the update over a week ago, and I am not going to side-load the update. So I'm wondering if anyone else has heard anything?

  • Here’s how to get the update instantly:

    • Turn off T-Mobile eSIM, or remove T-Mobile physical SIM card.
    • Insert any other SIM into your phone -- I used a SIM card from Mexico.
    • Go to Settings and check for update -- the update downloads instantly.

I have a Google Pixel 7 with a T-Mobile sim, still waiting for update. My wife has a TM Galaxy S21 FE and got the update 2 days ago

  • I spoke to T-Mobile twice this week about the delay. Both times the rep told me the update should be by the end of the month. Neither rep was really confident in what they were saying though so I'm really disappointed in T-Mobile and the lack of communication to their customers.

Also, there certainly sounds like some confusion. The updates are released from Google and the carriers are responsible for pushing the updates out. That was told to me  directly from T-Mobile.

Updates are sometimes staggered to ensure major bugs don't slip out and widely affect a lot of customers.  Google is responsible for the updates for the Pixel devices, not carriers!  Sometimes the easiest way to stagger an update is by the memory capacity, carrier it is on, etc.

Yeah, T-Mobile representatives told me the delay wasn't on them as well. I find it interesting though because it is only T-Mobile and Verizon customers that have not received the update.

With the security issues alone, this should be important and there seems to be zero actual information coming from either carrier.

  • I'm also waiting for the update for my Pixel 7a. I'm on Google Fi which uses T-Mobile towers.

I've bought my last 2 Pixels directly from Google because there's more options and they offer zero percent financing and come unlocked.

I'm also waiting. I've heard the security update is for a serious day one exploit. Also, I've been eagerly waiting for the added functionality of Displayport video output on my pixel 8 delivered in this update.
