Im still waiting for patch update

  • You need to bring that up with Samsung.  Carriers don't touch code like people in the states think they do.

Just a heads up if you go to Samsung members they detail almost anything pertaining to this vulnerability without making a statement.

I have the same problem with my A53 5G. January was the last update. In fact, I posted about it on the Samsung members forum, but the moderator deleted it. Neither Samsung nor T-mobile can or will answer when this update will be available. I'm really astonished at the low priority this has been given. I hope you don't do your banking or use a password manager on your phone. 😏

You're astonished? Is this your first ever smart phone? This is by far not a uncommon thing to happen..with all carriers..with all manufacturers...

Yes, I'm astonished. This is not an ordinary security update! There are articles all over the internet about how serious this is. And, no, this is not my first smart phone. I have been with T-mobile since it was Powertel back in the day. Over 22 years. As I stated, I'm astonished at the priority this is NOT being given. I mean some of the S series are already getting the APRIL update, which is supposed to include stuff to make prettier pictures. Should that take  priority over a very serious and simple exploit where a hacker can literally take over you phone? As of today, still no update.

and would you like to know who takes care of those security patches and then kicks them out?

If you know, please share. I've gone at trying to get the update from T-mobile, as well as directly to Samsung. They each say to look to the other. I've tried OTA (T-mobile) and contacted them for weeks now since it was supposed to have been released. And I've also contacted Samsung directly, and tried using Smart Switch to get the update. Both say I'm "up to date" on my phone with the last update being January 1st.

  • Samsung in this scenario is the one that handles security patches..as well as operating system updates..

    LG handles LG devices..

OnePlus handles their own stuff for their own devices…

only thing the above have in common is the carrier will test against most of the updates and either pass them or kick them back to be fixed if it affects the devices..other than that the carrier doesnt have much to do with security updates seeing as how they dont really want  to botch it up.

as is if Samsung has not completed the patch for this specific device (they ALL get their own variant..its not a one for all type deal) then  no matter how many times you check it wont be there..they must complete it...test it...fix any issues..retest it..get it cleared by the carriers testing..then the carrier gives the ok for it to be kicked out.

as it has been since the first smart phone kicked out pretty much..
