OnePlus 9 system memory at 96gb

I have 3 OnePlus 9's and they are keep going higher and higher in the system memory.  One of them is at 96gb, the other 2 are at 64gb.  We did a factory reset and that seemed to help for an hour or so then started to creep up again.  How do we stop this from happening.  It eats up all their memory space.

App and RAM usage varies.  As time goes on though, apps get more bloated and that includes the stock apps included with Android 12 for OnePlus.  The Color/Oxygen OS hybrid has always had higher RAM usage than plain Oxygen OS.

If you have a lot of apps storing a lot of data, that will also take up space on the internal storage.  You also might have some OTA files sitting on the device as well as pictures and videos, both of which can take up a lot of space.

  • I have a OnePlus 9 Pro and I've just discovered that my System files are now at 140 GB of storage.  This is no relation to videos, pictures or apps that are installed. As I am searching Google for a solution, this appears to be a big problem with OnePlus phones, and no solution is being provided. The system files just grow with no explanation and render phones completely unusable.

I have never had that issue with the handful of OnePlus devices I have.  Are you deleting the update cache to flush out downloaded updates that are already installed?  Do you have apps like Netflix or Spotify downloading media to olay offline?

Since I posted my statement earlier, another 8 gb has been added to the system files. I have emptied all my photos and videos and am about to perform a factory reset. I too have had multiple OnePlus devices and never had this issue. None the less, there are a LOT of other people having this issue, and it appears to be focused on the 9 pro.
