"Best 5G" ????

I've been contacting support for over a year and service is still awful. I get so mad seeing TMobile commercials saying how they have the best 5G and pushing their home internet. I live in a major city.

"Get more 5G bars in more places. T-Mobile is the leader in 5G coverage, speed, and, according to umlaut, reliability."

I can run tests over and over.. for more than a year and service still is awful. I've contacted support many many times and have straight up been lied to (was promised a cell booster than never came).

Does anyone else have seriously poor speeds even with 3-4 bars of 5G? I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. If I put my Verizon SIM in it I get amazing speeds. I run tests back to back and it's always the same.

My phone is pretty much useless without wifi. Wifi calling was what brought me to T-Mobile 10 years ago but it's not that reliable. I miss a lot of calls and have dropped calls. I also have a lot of issues sending texts. They can take several minutes to go through.

I've tried support through Twitter and the app over and over. Maybe TMobile service just sucks? I've been to some areas where I can get 200+ down but the map in my area just seems wrong... And it's been the same map and same bad service for a couple of years... I am tired!

Samsung S21 (T-Mobile branded at least) should give you 5G UC speeds where it exists.

This is part of the problem.

Your FCC indicator shows ‘5G NRNSA’ which means LTE + 5G … but doesn’t show ‘which bands’

    Post a screenshot from running

    *#0011#

    Select [1] SIM 1 Information

    You will see ‘NR_BAND’ and ‘NR_BW’, NR5G_RSRP, NR5G_SINR and NR5G_RSRQ

Most likely:  NR_BAND will be n71 (boo), NR_BW 15 MHz, the others are for signal strength, signal to noise and quality.

If you’re lucky, you ‘might’ see n41 and NR_BW 100MHz.

I upgraded my Note 10+ 4G after bringing it to TMo to get the new S22 Ultra at an $800!discount.

While the 10+ seemed to work great on TMo's 4G, the S22 Ultra seems to suffer from weaker coverage, not in the number of bars, but the quality of the connection.

I do get places where I get 500+mbit 5GUC connections, BUT the upload speed seems atrocious. Get a mile from the tower and uplinks drop to well under 1Mbit and latency and jitter go through the roof.  Even turning off 5G and going LTE is of little assistance here.  Even with 3 bars.  Anything less than 4 bars is trouble.  Any thick buildings between me and the tower? Service sucks .

I've reported this continually to TMo.  At first, they told me there were some upgrades to the towers in progress.  Now they tell me the upgrades are done and everything is running optimally in the area.  Still, problems persist and have not improved my service.  And I am an Uber driver, and my riders have told me the same ….

I'd like my old Note 10+ back, simply for the fact it worked better on the TMo network.  And a refund of my money on this S22 Ultra.

Customer service has been very attentive. I have no complaints with any of the reps I've chatted with over messenger.  But I have been told the Note10+ is gone for good once you trade it in.

  • for the time being you can always go into your phones settings and change to 4G LTE instead of the 5G until things stabilize out in that area.
