You won't like my answer but I think I'm right. First, your home internet does not seek towers like your phone does. It uses one tower with the best signal. You can see the tower ID you are on using your Tmobile app along with which bands you are on. Bands will also make a difference, That said, If you read some of the mobile service agreements Tmobile says they may modulate speeds although I believe that is mainly data for phone users based on their plans.
The part you won't like. You share a tower. The more users on the tower the more your speed may fluctate. 5g minimizes this but does not eliminate it.
I have had some similar issues. Sometmes rebooting your gateway will solve the issue. If it's terrible and horribly persistent you may just have a bad gateway. Also simply make sure you have the best signal. A poor signal will kick you into LTE.
