Will my Xiaomi phone work with the T-mobile network ?

Hola

I am preparing for a 6 month internship in San Diego for next year. I am trying to find a phone plan for my Xiaomi Note 11 (IMEI 869264060207760). From my research, it looks like it doesn't work on Verizon and AT&T networks, but should work on T-mobile's.

The $40 prepaid plan with a physical SIM for $10 seems like a good match for me, the only thing that makes me doubt it is the byod checker on tmobile's website that tells me my phone is partially compatible with the network.
Will I be able to use 4G in San Diego with this phone?

  • Put a T-Mobile SIM in the device, reboot it, and see if you can enable VoLTE.  That doesn't look like great coverage based on band 4.  How up to date is that map also?  Most.of what T-Mobile uses currently for LTE are bands: 12, 66 (extension of band 4), and 71.

    Hello. I'm going to travel to America and I'll be staying in Manhattan, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. I have purchased a T-Mobile prepaid card with unlimited data. I have the Xiaomi 13T and was wondering if my device will work on T-Mobile's network, or if I'll need to buy a new one that is compatible. ¡Gracias!

    Looking at the bands on the phone it will mainly work on LTE if it's VoLte compatible.

    @syaoran

     thanks for your response. I followed the Android guide, and the results are shown in the photos. However, I couldn't find the option for the MMS protocol: WAP 2.0. Also, in the APN Type, my phone already had everything written that appears in the photo. Should I delete the extras and keep only the APN Type: default, supl, mms? After doing all this, do you think my phone will work? Also, I'll be taking a Samsung A13 5G with me as a backup plan.

    @syaoran So as i understand my Xiaomi will work properly on Tmobile network?

    There is still no guarantee it will.  It ultimately depends on the device's carrier profile that is hard set.  If that carrier profile is compatible with T-Mobile USA.  You will get VoLTE and maybe VoNR when in the US.  If the carrier profile of the device is not compatible with T-Mobile USA.  You will still have data and texts, but you won't be able to make or receive calls.

    Do you know if your device is running the China or Global firmware?  The China firmware is not compatible with T-Mobile.  See devices running the Global firmware are.  Some can be made to work but it requires an understanding of how Qualcomm's tools work.  Messing with this can easily hard brick your device.

    The EU firmware should be fine to work in the US with VoLTE and VoNR.
