G4AR Change Wifi Channels 3 networks on same channel
Just got G4AR gateway. Speeds are around 1gB down very happ But big issue need to change my wifi channels numbers as there are two neighbor with networks both on 5ghz channel 36. Does this gateway h...
@Deprocks88, unfortunately, the TM gateway does not support selecting channels. You will need to buy a Wi-Fi router and set it up in bridge mode (let the TM Gateway act as a DHCP server). Then, let your devices connect to your Wi-Fi router. I am using the Eero 6+; others work, too. I think most any wifi router will work. You will need to disable the TM Gateway SSID. All of your devices should only see the new wifi router to connect to the internet. On the wifi router, you can select which channel for each 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.

@copz1998 Thank you for your responses. I am not the OP, I'm the partner that telecommutes and has to rely on a stable connection. I have already saved my router configuration and maybe pull the plug and see what happens. We have been using cable with Asus Zen Wifi. This unit has Wireless router mode, AP mode, Repeater mode, Media bridge mode and AIMesh mode. So I think that it would be changed to AP mode? Or would that be double NAT?
The issue isn't interference from neighbors. I work as a developer using a client access application which requires stability. One blip and my work is gone. The current set up is separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5. I don't know why, but I have to bind my desktop to the main AP which is literally in the same room.
When we tried TM, it was great for everything…. until Monday when I started working. The gateway was upstairs, with the additional AP here in the office. Signal strength in the app showed as excellent. I was getting max speed when testing with my phone. But I started losing my client access sessions, and therefore losing any unsaved work. Then my PC network status was 'Connected, no internet'. If I disconnected and reconnected, it just would not connect to my work. I couldn't even load a browser page. My laptop got disconnected from the network completely. It was not interference from the existing Zen Wifi, as that had been completely shut off. Needless to say, there was a quite a bit of rage.
So now we are using (and paying for) 2 internet access accounts. TM gateway upstairs, and I am using cable/Zen router in the office (with no issues). I would love nothing more than to take this cable modem back to the cable company and tell them I no longer need their price gouging.
Since you are already using the set up you described: are you able to have separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5 from the Eero? Are you able to bind to a specific Eero AP? Does the Eero still perform AI Protection? QOS?
Ugh…I write software for billion dollar companies but networking makes my head spin.
