splitting 2-4 and 5g

I set up a 5g and a separate 2-4 connection. However it keeps making one of these dual 2-4 and 5g. How can I make it to where it is either 2-4 or 5g, not both? Gracias.

You can have up to five networks (SSIDs) on the gateway.  I always recommend leaving the default network configuration alone, with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz alone, because most devices will work well with it, and it is less trouble for you.  (Of course, you can rename it and set your own password.)  You can add a separate 2.4 GHz network and a separate 5 GHz network.  Many users find it necessary to have a separate 2.4 GHz network with lowered security (WPA/WPA2 instead of WPA2/WPA3) for their older devices.

In any case, the setting for the Frequency Band is where you set Automatic (both), 2.4 GHz, or 5 GHz.  By the way, directly under that is the setting for the WPA version.

    T Life app instructions:

Connect (at the bottom) > Things (at the top) > tap your Gateway > tap Manage > under My Networks, you will see each one you have already created.  To see the Frequency band for one of these, tap the network name > under Advanced settings, see the drop-down box for Frequency Band.  Choose Automatic (recommended); 2.4 GHz; 5 GHz.  Tap Save at the bottom.

To create a new network, under My Networks, tap + Add Network > Give it name (SSID) and a password; select the frequency band; select the WPA version.  (Encryption mode is automatically set when you select a WPA version).  Tap Save at the bottom.
