Google Digits Importing Contacts Missing Records

I am trying to use the Google Digits app on my laptop.  I registered my phone number and tried a few test text messages, and everything seemed fine.  Then, I imported all of my Google Contacts into the Google Digits app.  However, it is missing many records.  I have 249 records in my Google Contacts, and only 152 in my Digits Contacts.  I looked at all the missing records in my Google Contacts, and I don't see anything distinguishing them from the records that were imported successfully.  I tried deleting them all and logging out, and starting over, several times.  It is the same result every time.  Maybe a bug in Google Digits?  Is this a new app?  It seems like it.  It is VERY slow to load even text messages.  Please let me know what you think.  Gracias.
