has anyone else been scammed by T-Mobile?
Hello! I am another victim of these scammers known as t mobile. On August 11th 2023 (z flip 5 release date), I went to the t mobile store in Dedham, MA and spoke with a woman who previously told me about this promotion, and all I had to do was upgrade to the 5g go plan and I could trade my Samsung galaxy s 21 ultra toward the cost of the new z flip 5. I don't remember her name as I lost her card (it begins with a "Y"), but I did report her eventually. Which I'm sure nothing has been done about as scamming people like us is her job.
I upgraded the plan and traded in my s 21 ultra. I was told that it would cover $800 towards the cost of the z flip 5. I paid the 200 dollar difference out of pocket. Got a watch and earbuds too. I CONFIRMED with this woman what the EXACT cost of my bill would be. She said about $150. So I left, satisfied.
The next month I'm charged $180. I check my bill and it shows a financing charge for the phone. What takes place over the next several months involves me calling their customer service line, telling them the same situation about me being charged for a phoke I already paid for (and explaining the trade in promotion), then telling me the same garbage ("oh the promotion didn't apply, let me apply it manually......oh for some reason the promotion can't apply...let me just discount your bill"). Over and over until January or February of this year, where someone finally admitted that the store screwed up and my z flip 5 did not qualify for the promotion. So I was essentially sold a lie. This guy said he would have to manually discount my bill for the remainder of the financing period (which I think was until the end of this year). I confirmed my bill amount. He said $150. I thanked him and hung up, again happy for a resolution.
This discount was applied for 2 months and then stopped. I called back in May because my bill was once again $180. So I thought that maybe the guy was either on vacation or forgot this month. I got this air head who told me they could no longer apply the discount. At this point I'm furious because why am I being charged for a phone I already paid for?! I go back and forth with her, as she attempted to twist my words and mention stupid meaningless information not related to what happened to me specifically. Eventually a manager takes over and I spend the next 10 minutes listening to this a-hole attempt to tell me about the diminished value of the phone that I traded in, which has nothing to do with the fact that the woman in the store told me that my phone that I traded in covered 800 dollars toward phone and I paid the 200 dollar difference out of pocket. This POS even tried to gaslight me and tell me that I didn't actually pay for the phone! If I didn't pay for the phone then why am I missing 200 dollars and my samsung galaxy s 21 ultra! I get him to admit that they are making me pay for their mistakes. I curse him and hang up. I do not apologize for my behavior because they literally lied and stole from me. So now i have given them a phone and 200 dollars, and I still have to pay a financing charge for a phone THEY told me I had already paid for.
Screw them. It's crazy that I'm not the only victim of this. I would think that this would be grounds for a class action lawsuit, but I don't know anything about legal matters. I just that this feels super illegal. I could call the store and try and get my phone back, but im sure they would just play stupid. I'm working on switching to Verizon, and t mobile can take their overpriced bill and shove it!
