Can old physycial SIM still be used after switch to ESIM ?

Hola,

I had a phsycial SIM in my old pixel 4 and bought a pixel 8 a couple months ago. It gave me the option to transfer the SIM as an ESIM to the new pixel 8. I have a prepaid 10 GB plan for $40.

Today I recycled some of my old phones and I don't know if that old physical SIM was still in the phone. So could someone technically use that one to connect to my network or account ? I did wipe all the data from the phone and I think it was off for at least 6 months. I also have the sim swap protection enabled now and that port out option or whatever it is called. I remember when the switch happend the old phone did not have any network connection. Just wondering if I need to do something here for protection.

  • Once a SIM is deactivated, it can't be reactivated.  Your account is provisioned for your current eSIM, not your old pSIM.
