Intermittent disconnecting devices - DHCP issue or something else?
I have the Nokia gateway. For two years running, my mixed wired/wireless network has worked just as expected. My network of about 50 devices is split about equally between Wi-Fi and Ethernet. Just this week, about 20 devices, mostly Ethernet, have dropped off, but return intermittently. A few Wi-Fi devices also have lost connectivity. The Wi-Fi devices remain associated to the gateway SSID, but do not have automatic IP addresses assigned. For these devices where I can access the user interface, I can successfully assign a fixed IP address and that solves the problem. But the ethernet side does not seem to work the same way. I have several Ethernet switches to distribute the network around the property and have replaced all of them and cables, yet the intermittent connectivity persists. I am running out of options and hope somebody here has some ideas what to try next. Thx!
update: I isolated the issue to a malfunctioning weather station bridge. It failed and was spewing random data onto the network.
@ZinGasm can you describe your network layout? For example:
T-Mobile Gateway > Wifi access point > 10-port unmanaged switch > devices
If your ethernet devices are falling off, it sounds like a ethernet issues. Have you tried to reboot your wifi access point and/or switch? And, if devices can see each other over ethernet, then you might want to check the cable between the gateway and 1st switch (or all of the cables (unplug / plug-in).
