slow home internet

I've had T-Mobile's home WiFi for over a year now with good speed but recently the speed has really dropped off. I ran a speed check and am getting upload in the 200 gbs and download of 3 gb. When I switch to no WiFi and just cell I get in the 500 gbs for download and 8 gb upload. Any thoughts why WiFi is slower than cell?

the router is in the same place it has always been, I get 4 bars. I've had no major changes in devices. I have the cube router. Live in the Dallas area not in a rural area.

  • You may find that urban areas may have more issues that rural, as sites will deprioritize home internet based on capacity/traffic.

      As for
@Awm7777 hitting 200gbps, thats not even real.  200Mbps maybe.

Similarly,  where i am, ill hit +700Mbps on phone, but just over 500 on home internet. During the day, home internet will drop to about 400Mbps

  • Same issue here in Rome GA. My phone will hardly work if it connects to my internet. Turn wifi off and it's fast like before.

  • I have the same issue, sometimes not connection at all

I have a similar problem, and my suspicion is that in my case the modem was connecting to a nearby AT&T tower before my problems started.  I don't know this for a fact, but there are several reasons to believe that was the case.

I have confirmed that my modem is using the nearest T-mobile tower now, which provides a much (100x) weaker signal.
