slow speed tests

Got a new gateway and a new sim card, then had sim card replaced. Speedtest at the TMobile store less than a mile away was over 170. My first speed test at home was over 100 but then every subsequent speed test ranged from 3 to 24. I've restarted the gateway and devices and still get slow speed tests. Without wifi speed test is almost 200, so service in the area is good. Did I get another bad gateway?

  • I had to move it to the front window, there's something causing interference in the house. Our house was built in the 30s and we noticed a bee infestation on the east facing wall (which is what was recommended for service from TMobile) and I wonder if the hive could be interfering

    @valisca0500 have you used the Placement Assistant in the T-Mobile Internet app? It sounds like your proximity to your cell tower is good, but you may need to better align the gateway placement with your cell tower. From the app home screen, click on "More about connection quality." Then launch the assistant. Just note that you should place it as high as possible in the house and then rotate it 1/8th of a turn and test the signal repeatedly until you get the best signal.
