YouTube doesn't work on home Internet
Anyone else have this problem and/or could offer any solution?
When using WiFi with t-mobile home internet, YouTube on my phone, tablet, and wife's phone are barely usable. Nearly all videos stop after a few seconds and then the app just tries to buffer the video with the spinning arrow showing. No amount of waiting will restore the video. If i switch the phone to cellular data the video will start again. Related to this, YouTube smart downloads is continuously active. All of this happens only while using T-Mobile 5g home internet, not on our AT&T internet.
This never happens while using cell data connection on the phone (T-Mobile is not our cell carrier). It also doesn't happen with any other streaming device, Roku, computer, etc, or any other streaming service, Disney, prime, etc.
Download speeds are extremely high. That's not the problem.

Same here… workaround works if I connect my own Wi-Fi router on the Ethernet port or bypassed using VPN
I have escalated this issue.. T-Mobile assured me to escalate this issue to engineering team and get resolution by Monday
Also this issue is now with Tmoble mobile internet… huhhhhhgh!!!!!

I have T-Mobile 5G cellular service and I also have T-Mobile 5G Home Internet service, and I have found that T-Mobile appears to have some network problem in that it will not connect reliably with certain web sites and services. More specifically, my devices will not connect reliably with YouTube or the Google Play Store using either the T-Mobile Home Internet or the T-Mobile 5G cellular network. Most other web sites and services have no problem, although there may be others that do have a problem that I have not discovered.
I cannot connect with my new Pixel 6 phone to either YouTube or Google Play Store using either the cellular network or my Home Internet service. I am a new customer to T-Mobile and have had T-Mobile service for about 2 weeks. I do not believe (but am not totally sure) that these problems existed during my first week of service, but only seemed to appear in the last week.
The problem is not unique to my Pixel 6. My older phone, a Pixel 2XL, has the same problem when connecting to my T-Mobile home internet. I also have an older Apple iPhone 6 which also experiences the same problem on T-Mobile Home internet. The latter two phones do not have cellular service, so I cannot say for sure what would happen if connected through the T-Mobile cellular network, but suspect they would have problems as well.
I also have Xfinity Home Internet which I was hoping to replace with the T-Mobile Home Internet. When I turn off the T-Mobile Home Gateway and turn on the Xfinity Gateway, I have no problems. This would seem to effectively isolate the problem to the T-Mobile network.
The connectivity problem on the T-Mobile cellular network exists near my home, but I have also tried it in other parts of the western suburbs of Chicago and it has the same problem in the few other locations I have tried to use it.
This does not appear to be a wireless radio connection problem, as both the T-Mobile cellular service and the T-Mobile home internet service test out reliably using the Ookla Speedtest app at around 300 Mbit/sec download and about 40 Mbit/sec upload at my home location. Furthermore, the T-Mobile cellular data connectivity and Home Internet connectivity work quite well with many other services including Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services. So, it would appear that there is something blocking and throttling access to above mentioned web sites and services in the T-Mobile network.
I have called the T-Mobile support line and reported the problem but to no avail. I was instructed to reboot my phone, reset the gateway, update my apps, all the usual first line support tactics. None of these had any effect, and based on the symptoms and information above, you would not expect these to be effective. This appears to be a network problem well above the level of support you can get on the phone. No solution was promised and I am not sure of the status of my problem report.
Obviously, without access to Google Play Store and YouTube, T-Mobile access has a serious deficiency that needs to be corrected quickly for the T-Mobile service to be viable.
I would be happy to discuss my experience with any T-Mobile network engineer that would be willing to work on the problem.

Besides using the wifi from the Netgear router rather than the gateway's wifi. I found that connecting my computer and/or Tv directly to the gateway though the ethernet ports on the gateway eliminates the problem
live in Chicago west suburbs.

Same here on the NorthSide of Chicago it’s getting real annoying

I'm having this same issue in the north suburbs of Chicago. Won't play YouTube over T-Mobile 5g (which shows over 300mbs download speed) but plays fine when I connect my phone to Xfinity home Internet.

Had same YouTube problem. For me, Solved it by connecting my Netgear router directly to T-Mobile gateway through ethernet port. Then chooseing the wifi network name from the Netgear router to the devices. Do not know why this works but it does.

Well I just tried to view YouTube on Wi-Fi from T-Mobil 5G home internet on IPad.
It just continues to buffer. But commercials load fast?
I have had the trash can internet for just over 1 Month here in Chicago and when I first started using this internet. I was ready to drop Comcast……but now I see problems.
At first You Tube was loading great. But in the past week I noticed something has changed in internet service from T-Mobile. All other streaming services worked great and loaded super fast. But in past week NetFlix started to buffer also.
I tried to contact T-Mobil….but one hour waits are crazy. So asked for return call but have had no reply in 4 days? That's bad service T-Mobil!
I have rebooted system. I have reset trash can to factory settings. Nothing changed. I have turned off system for entire day to let it cool off. Still no change? But when I reconnect to Comcast thru WI-Fi YouTube works again?
I even tried neighbors WOW internet thru Wi-Fi and YouTube works great no bufferingIt can only be T-Mobile internet.
Only hope they read these to get some change? - gear1152Roaming Rookie
Thank you everyone! It's good to know that it's not just me. But also sorry that everyone is having this issue. I'm also in Chicago. I've contacted youtube and elevated it to a specialist. They're supposed to contact me in a day or so. I'll also contact T-mobile and recommend we all do the same so the issue is apparent to them. I'll post any significant updates here.

Same here. Chicago, NOK 5G21 gateway, Pixel 6. YouTube videos stop after a few seconds. Interestingly it also happens if I turn off Wi-Fi (I have T-Mobile as my carrier), so this might be a network issue not unique to the Home Internet service.
