7 TopicsUpload speeds much faster than download speeds
So I recently switched to T-Mobile Home internet since it advertises good speeds and no data caps. When I first set up the gateway, I was shocked. Speeds were blazing fast. I was consistently getting speeds between 70mbps and 170mbps. This went on for roughly 6 weeks, and then the service became completely unusable. Speeds were consistently below 1mbps and on a good day I could make it into the teens. I called customer support just about every day trying to sort things out, but got nowhere. Ifinally got a call from an engineer who said, "I should expect varying speeds based on my location" and closed out my case. Not a single person can tell me why everything worked so well but then tanked. I then called and had them send me a new gateway device. I set it up and speeds were again in the 60-100 range for about 2 days, and then went back to being unusable. I then started to notice that most tests showed my upload speeds to be significantly higher than my download. I also set up a fan to rule out overheating which has made little to no difference. Today, I decided to see if my signal could be the issue, so I drove to the base of the 5g tower in my city plugged in my gateway with full bars of connectivity and ran a speed test. My results showed my download speed at 2.62mbps and my upload at 59.3 mbps. I ran the test several times over about a 30 minute period on both mine and my wife's phone and got very similar results on every single test. I'm holding out for Starlink and will be abandoning TMobile as soon as possible if they can't resolve this issue, but in the mean time, I would like to know if anyone has any ideas as to why these speeds are so backwards or possibly have suggestions for things I can do to try to fix the issue myself.5KViews3likes15ComentariosTorrent download speed is terrible
Legal torrents of course like Linux stuff. Ever since getting the silver can, torrent download speed is very sporadic and very slow. 2 Mbps is about as fast as I can get with it usually averaging about 650 Kbps. Sometimes it just starts slowing down for no reason to maybe 10 Kbps. Really strange. Regular Internet speed is around 160 Mbps and that's on a Google mesh. I'm currently using qBittorrent with UTP only and some other tweaks. Couldn't get Bittorent to go faster than 200 Kbps. Anyone found a solution to this?1.6KViews0likes2ComentariosCell phone signal into basment home
My TMoblile gateway is a NOK 5G21. Knowing I do not get any cell signal in my house I installed a Cell Phone Signal Booster from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BV65DLX1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I have it wired into my basement home (actually have dirt and concrete roof). It sends a signal into my home. My US Cellular cell phone works in all my rooms. And is about equal inside using signal booster and outside with speed tests. My TMobile gateway works. But when I take my Gateway out onto my roof, it has a much faster down and upload speed than when it is inside using my signal booster? Can anyone help me figure out why my TMobile Gateway is slower inside connected to the booster than outside? Self explanatory Um,I thought this router was dependable, not snail speed downloads and uploads? Usually while hardwired its at least 30mb/second And uploads are at least 10 mb Can someone explain this please? Yes it's stable but I heavily dislike lag, plus 2 days to download a 150g game seems a bit worrisome66Visto0likes0ComentariosConnection=Excellent Download Speed=POOR!!
Been watching buffering circles on my TV every few minutes for several hours; on hold for support now 45 minutes and counting. . . Connection reads "excellent"; Download speed=POOR. How do I get help??? Have I told so many people in my community how happy I've been that my tower can't handle the new accounts? Seriously, why would my download speed be so sluggish, and what can I do about it? Please note: Connection IS excellent, so I do not need an extender. And I have now been on hold for an hour. Shall I just quite T-Mo Internet and go back to Verizon?48Visto1like0Comentarios
