I recently signed up for T-Mobile internet, and I am VERY disappointed that I could not even forward NATtraffic to my home security system. I saw that this was discussed 7 months ago in a previous thread, and hope the developers will notice this. The speed is great, and the same as was advertised in the chat. PLEASE let me know when can get a PLAIN modem from T-Mobile, or BUY my own modem, or SET their modem up to DUPLICATE the functionality of Spectrum. I can't and won't change, until and unless I can get that kind of service. Frankly, I am shocked that TM didn't spec that into their design. Instead, based on about a 20 minute search, that is IMPOSSIBLE today… and here are just a few of the problems that will prevent me from even considering TM: There's NO bridge mode --- This means I CAN NEVER treat TM device like my Spectrum cable modem, and treat it JUST like a modem. Since I can't treat it as just another modem, I have to REDO and RETHINK, and REDESIGN my whole network, to adopt to their design -- This is NOT going to happen! No Bridge means that I'm limited to whatever they designed into their modem, to provide services like DHCP, NAT, port forwarding, DNS, ETC. Since their software UI is the only way I can provide services I depend on, then unless they perfected their software, their UI, and their firmware, and their firewall software that is better than all the other devices I have, some of which are extremely sophisticated and expensive, their device makes using these devices not only redundant, but also DISABLED services, without a lot of workarounds, assuming I both want to do the work, and I can actually achieve configs that work for me. I'm still using Spectrum, and it appears I won't have a viable good option ofchanging everything over to T-Mobile, until they somehow figure out how to produce a service that is COMPLETE plug and play with a CABLE MODEM…. By modem, I do NOT mean a firewall, a router, a WiFi, or ANYTHING more than a stable MODEM with ONE IP address, DHCP in order to pass an IP to my firewall, and that's it. NO, I do NOT even need DNS services, either. I hope I just misunderstand thecurrent TM design. If this is how it works today, it reminds me of when I first put a DSL modem in my company in the early 1990's. The first thing they gave me was a contract that said I had to PAY EXTRA, for EACH device I connected, I'd have to notifythem in advance, and EACH IP was extra cost. After Irewrote their contract, and informed them I only wanted ONE device connected, and ONE IP, and bought my SonicWall "Internet gateway" "NATFirewall", and "DHCP server". Although that one device was about $300-400 at the time, we were able to use that to service over 50 computers at a time for the next 15 years. I guess we were ahead of our time as a small company. Most everyone else was paying 10-15 per user, and we never EVER paid for more than ONE user. But then, we had 20 or more engineers working for us at the time as well. C'mon T-Mobile --- Get a real great network designer involved so it only takes plugging my EXISTING 1,000-T WIRED internet cable and then everything works, out of the box. Then, also provide the means to MANAGE and MONITOR that modem remotely. Hey guys, I'm new here... I just got my gateway in yesterday... I must say, I'm highly disappointed and I only wish I researched this further before I ordered it...I've already donemultiple searches on this topic, so I'm not gonna ask the question I've been wanting to ask which was: "Why isn't my connection open NAT?", or "Why can't I port forward?". I've pretty much answered all of those questions myself by simply searching. I have taken it upon myself to call T-mobile's tech support anyways in the event that somehow a miracle is sent my way.... Fortunately for me, a very kind gentleman by the name of Alex, employee number 786457, assured me that they will be fixing the problem within a 48 hour period. I was told there will be some Beta software sent to my unit "possibly". And yes, that was the word used... Not sure how far I can believe that, seeing as how a lot of you are having issues. But anyway, this is my journey. I will post some updates here n there to let y'all know the outcome. Worst case scenario this causes me to vacate the community & the service entirely. Because this is probably one of the largest handicaps any network can have, it's almost like having parental control without it actually being implemented. I'm just starting out on T-Mobile home internet but didn't want to stop using my Asus Router which is set up nicely already to handle everything in this household (both wifi and ethernet). Here's what I did to avoid any problems. I hooked my Router's WAN port (which use to go to my cable modem) to one of the two ethernet ports on the back of the T-Mobile Gateway. To avoid double NAT and other problems, I went to Administration on my Asus RT-AX82U and changed it from Wireless Router to Access Point. I made sure to download the Device Discovery Utility linked under Access Point before saving the change so I could get the Router IP address to log into it after the Router reboots. Then just type the new IP into the browser to continue managing the Router. I hope this helps anyone that simply wants to keep using their Router and it's setup with the T-Mobile Gateway. I can't totally disable the wifi in the T-Mobile Gateway (mine is the Sagemcom), but I switched it to 5Ghz only in the Tmobile app to cut down on any interference (which hasn't been a problem anyway) and still only use the WiFi from my Asus Router.4.7KViews6likes11ComentariosCan't Play Basic Online Games Because of Nat Type Issue
Don't know much of anything about networking, just know I can't play super Smash Brothers and other games on my Nintendo switch! I have the newest T-Mobile home internet router, the black rectangular one. Streaming content works just fine, browsing the internet works just fine, but gaming of pretty much any kind seems to be impossible, and I always get an error message stating that my Nat Type is incorrect or something of that nature. What can I do to fix this? Trying to figure out a solution to the no bridge-mode\no port forwardingin T-Mobile's dumbed down appliance. A pfSense firewall will port forward so I can get Plex and ChannelsDVR among other things from outside the network. This solves the bridge mode and port forwardproblem. It also does DHCP and NAT. Add to that my Google Mesh WiFi system (5 units.) So what I'm looking at is T-Mobile appliance>pfSense appliance>Google Router. Onlynow I've gottriple NAT (disaster) unless I put the Google in Bridge mode. But then I'm pretty sure the mesh won't work. Anyone using pfSense with a mesh system? I know I could try ZeroTier but really like the capabilities of pfSense. I noticed recently that my TMHI Gateway has been on type 3 on my game console regardless of restart/reset and I've tried using Ethernet, Wifi, Moving device locations and changing DNS( Google/Cloudfare) and nothing has worked so far. My speeds are average 35 Mbps Down & 1 Mbps Up. This error just started appearing tonight. I have been successfully playing online since I first signed-up for TMHI, now all of a sudden (BOOM!) I can't connect to anyone, nor can they connect to me. I've restarted my gateway (Nokia) and Switchmultiple times to no avail -- I've also tried using custom DNS, with no improvement. I also tried connecting to my mobile hotspot (also T-Mobile) which worked fine before -- now nothing. My NAT type as reported by the Switch is "B" which should be good for connecting (It's always been B, when I was gaming fine before) Did T-Mobile quietly change something which kills Nintendo Switch Online? Are there any solutions which don't require me to add yet another monthly subscription to my growing list? I want to use my own router that has WIFI and also control band locking on the WIFI. There 40 - 50 WIFI APs all around me and there is too much interference on T-Mobile's WIFI band selections. With my own router I can control the signal strength and exact frequency of my signals. I can also lock in the MAC Address to my devices. I also want to use my own NAT settings. With the G4AR, this would create a double NAT. I tried Hint Control and it is not designed for the G4AR. It messed up the settings and I had to do a manual reset. I do networking for a living for over 20 years. T-Mobile has everything locked up to theiradvantage and not for the better interest of their customers. I guess they want to make it dummy proof. But everybody is not a dummy. I tried the Cudy P5 5G gateway and the TMO sim will not work. You need to get a enterprise sim. Nothing else will work.699Visto1like4Comentarios
