roaming data
6 TopicsIs turning off data roaming enough?
Hello. I have an iPhone 14, with the capability of dual eSIM. I am going to be living overseas for approximately 10 months but would like to keep my T-Mobile plan and number active for ease when I return. I have already been informed that if over 50% of your data usage is overseas for about a 2 month period, you will get pinged for excessive roaming and will be warned that your plan will get cancelled if it continues. I've also been told that simply not using the data overseas could potentially help you fly under the radar and not get pinged. I just got myself a eSIM for european data, and then turned off data roaming on the T-Mobile eSIM. This way I still receive calls and texts from my US number when connected to wifi, but according to what the phone says it won't use data or cell signal from the T-Mobile card. However, when I check my phone's signal it still shows that the T-Mobile card is connecting to cell towers in my area even with roaming turned off. Is having roaming turned off a sufficient way to ensure I don't use any data on that card, or is it still going to ping me for excessive roaming after some period of time? Over the last weekend, I was unable to get data coverage when travelling from US to Canada (Vancouver Metro). I see others comment on this general Canada data issue when roaming, but no movement. In the Toronto area, I've had success when T-mobile allows me to use Bell Canada mobile, but Vancouver - no such luck. I suspect it doesn't help that TELUS is involved as an smaller provider - I had temporary luck with manually selecting TELUS 3G, but my settings didn't seem to persist. I have the Canada/Mexico add on plan for US subscribers and voice calls work fine.900Visto0likes3ComentariosI have simple choice North America plan and it says talk, text and data up to 5GB is included. Hello, Could someone please tell me the costs associated with using my phone for data, text, and calling in Mexico? I am specifically interested in calling, as I am unable to determine whether it is included or $0.25 per minute. I tried to look on the website, but it only seems to include information for "Essentials" and "Magenta" plans. For reference, I have the Select Choice FAM UNL TT 50 plan. If there is a cost associated with data roaming and/or calling while in Mexico on this plan, is there an add-on that I can get for it? ¡Gracias de antemano!348Visto0likes1Comentario
