Xperia 1 III now a Verizon-only phone
Don't buy the Xperia 1 III even through it's often advertised as a non-carrier US model. MyXperia 1 III is now losing compatibility with T-Mobile. It shows 5G or LTE but has no connectivity. Sony supportsays the phone works only with Verizon and won't discuss further. As far as I can tell without root access, it's trying to use SA 5G bands and aggregations that Sony hasdisabled in the Qualcomm firmware. Turning on 5G in downtown Sunnyvale California kills connectivity. It works only intermittently when forced to LTE.1.4KViews2likes3ComentariosRe: [Off Topic] Purchase site and T-mobile question Xperia 1iii
I don't know what happened, but theXQ-BC62 is no longer working with T-Mobile. It appears to be connected but it has no data, calls, or texting. Turning off 5G sometimes helps, but not always. I noticed this a few days ago and it's getting worse. Sony Support said that only Verizon is supported, end-of-discussion. I'm trying to get a refund.9Visto2likes0ComentariosRe: No 5G Signal on my new Galaxy S22 (Unlocked) , stuck on LTE (4G/4G+)
Phones just don't work well with 5G yet. Manufacturers get the "5G" indicator on and that's good enough for them. Look for "Prefer 5G NR Mode" in the developer menu and make sure it's set toNSA + SA. My Sony Xperia 1 III has a lot of problems with 5G because the US model is intentionally crippled. It has no SA 5G and NSA barely works.4Visto1like0Comentarios
