jump 2.0 question

I'm a bit confused, I paid the remaining 134 dollars on all are accounts, to upgrade to iphone 14, so it says we're now jump Eligible on the site, so go to store with my parents to get them a iphone, only to be told they have to buy the samsungs out completely , and they try to tell us the total due is 3000 dollars, so the question is why is it with having protection with jump 2.0 and eip being half now are they trying to make them pay 3000 dollars instead of doing a trade in, am I missing something
