If you believe your SIM has been cloned, I would highly suggest getting a new SIM and transferring your service to that new SIM ASAP. A factory reset of your device before putting the new SIM in as well would also be wise. You will lose everything on your device by factory resetting it. Change any passwords you use for anything you login to on your phone, just to be on the safe side.
Any app you install on your device can potentially compromise it. Installing apps from reputable developers, reading reviews, and looking at the apps permissions before installing it can help a lot in deciding whether or not you should install the app.
