Have you tried reaching out to Customer Care at 611 or Direct Messaging T-Mobile on Facebook or Twitter to see if they can look into this further? Promotions usually do have terms and conditions. Perhaps something wasn't met or the person who explained the promotion to you didn't explain it correctly. Either way, you should definitely reach out to T-Mobile in one of the suggested methods to find out.
