Is my Android asian phone blacklisted?
Hello! I have a Xiaomi (K40 gaming) phone, I've been with TMobile since 2 weeks ago without any issue, I've just inserted the SIM in my cellphone and everything went smoothly.
Today in the morninrg I've noticed that I had no internet connection, the signal bars were there but no 5G nor VoLTE icon appeared. Plus, I was not able to make any phone call and SMS were not sent either. After a couple of hours, I was able to make and receive calls and SMS, but the Internet is still missing.
I went to a T-Mobile store and one guy there "explained" me that Chinese phones are not meant to work in US networks, that somehow the network it's struggling to connect to the cellphone band and because of the "US situation with China" these phones usually have these connection issues and that at some point, these phones will be blacklisted. Since my phone worked just fine the last 2 weeks, I don't think these arguments are valid at all.
On the other hand, I called to customer service and they've raised a report for the technical team to investigate.
Is this blacklisting a real thing? Any clue on why T-Mobile restricted my service?

Hi guys, I suffered from the same issue on my Xiaomi 10T but just got it resolved.
The solution I found is to enable the VoLTE and then the 5G connection is restored.
just dial: *#*#86583#*#*, then you should see a tiny icon of VoLTE on top of your screen.

Xiaomi phones, even global versions, lack US and Canadian carrier.VoLTE compatibility. They also lack some crucial bands deployed on most areas, like band 71. I had to use QPST to get my MiMIX 3 to work, which is not even friendly for advanced users. You can very easily brick your device using it that even a factory reset will not fix.

Looking at the specs of the phone it lacks the bands that Tmobile uses.

Could be location. The phone from what I see has no compatible 5g bands and very little LTE bands.
Also if the phone lacks Tmobile standard of Volte the phone can't be activated on Tmobile. If you swapped out the Sim on an active plan it may of taken a while to catch up.
@syaoran has better knowledge of this type of phone.

Do me a favor. Go into the Settings, where you should find a heading of "About device" or something similar. There should be a heading called, "Regulatory". Go in there and get the FCC ID number. ¡Gracias!

I was on the phone with my boy CJ from level 2 tech support for an hour or so today. He tried A LOT of things. Asked for 48 hours and guaranteed he'd get back with me. I will keep y'all posted.

This community is awesome,
Followed the steps above and entered in *#*#86583#*#* it stated that it was disabling checking and now I have the white VoLTE symbol on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 5G. (the site link is in German but it still works) Will update if anything changes

But it was working just fine the last 2 weeks. T-Mobile changed their bands since 06/05/2024?

I've been using it from the same locations, home and work. It's not working on any of both.
It worked fine since day 1, when I inserted the SIM.

I've experienced the same issue with my Xiaomi phones starting yesterday 6/4/24. They were working on the prior day, but now cannot connect to mobile network.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 5G
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro
SIM cards were originally in the Note 11 5G and the Note 7, Swapped SIM cards into the other phones with all of them showing bars but no mobile data.
Went to a T-mobile store and the rep said that the IMEI's were "locked to carrier" but was unable to see what carrier they were locked to. They replaced the SIM card on one of the phones and it didn't resolve the issue, also they placed the SIM card into a T-Mobile phone and it worked fine.
Just some back info. All phones were working prior to yesterday on T-mobile. Phones were purchased at various times from different Amazon vendors. (months to years apart)
Only mobile data does not work, they can make cellular calls to and from the phones when the SIM card is inserted.
Side note, I kept one of the SIM cards in the Note 7 and data started working again, was able to run a test to speedtest.net and got 27.xx Mbps download. Left it over night and in the morning I tried testing the SIM in another Xiaomi, now it doesn't work again in either the phone I put the SIM into OR the Note 7. No mobile data but I can make and receive calls.Sorry for the thread hijack but I noticed the same issues.
