Motorola Edge 2022 Android 13 When?

Anyone know this? I can't find a T-Mobile Android Update page for this phone to check the status.

  • keep hammering Motorola. the updates kick from them..unless they ran into some huge issues with 13 they might have bypassed it and at some point yall will get 14? not unheard of to happen. especially after the 13 fiasco so many had across the board...or was 12 the disaster update? not seeing anyone mentioning their 12 going nuts so guessing 13.

  • I spoke to Motorola earlier today and they said it was all between Google and T-Mobile. I did some poking around on line and the TMobile Edge 2022 is XT2205-1, the ATT model is -2, and the Verizon model is -3. Spectrum and US Cellular both use the -1, exact same model as TMobile, and both already have Android 13, so this is obviously TMobile withholding it for some stupid reason or another. If I was assured that it would work, I would just root the stupid thing and flash it with the Spectrum Android 13 rom. They aren't known for bloating down their OS like the big boys.

What have we all learned from this thread and the threads over on the Lenovo forums?  Don't buy Motorola devices!  :P

well that and if a OEM points fingers at either the carrier or G then theyre probably lying lol..Google created said update..but its up to M to make that update compatible with their devices..not G..and its not the carriers fault if M keeps kicking out a update and its junk and doesnt clear carrier check offs lol. M has ALWAYS been at the back of the pack when it came to updates…

dont get me started on the Photon...i think it was called the Photon..not a single OS update..in 2 years...not one..and then M went ahead and did the EOL (End Of Life) on it. all the comments about it over at Sprint could have been turned into a book with a pretty solid start to a part 2 lol..

It has been more than a decade since carriers provide anything more to updates outside of bloatware, carrier aggregation settings, and the odd bit of feedback and radio tuning settings for major updates.  Carriers with the exception of AT&T allow updates to go out across all of their networks.  AT&T is the exception because of specific deals with manufacturers to encourage customers to rain with AT&T or lose update access for your device.

  • Neither Motorola or T-Mobile is taking ownership of supporting their customers using this device to receive timely security updates as stated in the following policy:

Verizon customers are currently being upgraded to Android 13 and are on a newer security patch level. This is not a good customer experience for T-Mobile customers. https://www.verizon.com/support/motorola-edge-2022-update/

T-Monike is your cellular service provider.  Lenovo is the manufacturer.  The manufacturer is responsible for the device and the firmware that makes the device operate.

Companies usually deal with their bigger business partners first.  Verizon probably buys a lot more devices from Lenovo than T-Mobile does.  If your updates and security patches are really important to you.  Trade in your device for a Pixel.

  • not to mention if V is just now starting to roll out 13 then its safe to say other carriers 13 will start kicking out here in the near future.
