OnePlus 8T service
I have a OnePlus 8T that needs out-of-warranty repair. I did not get T-mobile insurance to cover it. Contacting OnePlus was the worst customer care experience I can recall.
The manufacturer said that since the device was purchased through T-mobile they would not be supporting repair requests. They insist on referring me to T-mobile to do the repair. I know T-mobile does not perform device repairs so this was a dead end. Escalating with the manufacturer did not yield any better recommendations. They claim if the phone was purchased unlocked, then they would be able to perform the repair. I am going to the Better Business Bureau.
Does this mean that if anyone buys another OnePlus device through T-Mobile they can never get it fixed?
If that is the case why would anyone ever purchase a OnePlus device from T-Mobile again? Are all manufacturers phones purchased through t-mobile similar dead-end policy?
OnePlus was absprbed intp OPPO when Android 12 was released for the OnePlus 8T. This has severed the relationship with T-Mobile and OnePlus due to OPPO being a company of the Government of China. The OnePlus devices T-Mobile still sells, are old stock. This is why the OnePlus 11 series and OnePlus 12 series have not been available through T-Mobile or other US carriers.
The OnePlus 8T is sadly beyond the end of life period. I also had an 8T and really liked the device on Android 11. You should upgrade to a new device if your old device is not working properly or trade it in towards a new device if it meets the trade in requirements.
