5G internet: Only 4G internet

For a period last year, I noticed we were getting 5G internet here at my house In Staunton, VA. Then it went back to 4G, and has stayed that way. Will 5G internet come back? Gateway says 5 bars/Excellent. Closest tower 1 mile, direct line of sight.
