Anyone else having problem activating galaxy watch 4 as standalone?

Do you have a phone synced to it? It may not work without a phone. But, it will work as an "extension " of your phone. I was gone all day today without my phone and was able to call and message...no problem. I cannot understand why tech is telling you that UNLESS you don't have a phone synced to it
