Trying to get better coverage in weak spots, trying Google wi-fi, what else?

Got TMHI and it’s fine if I’m in the same room with the tower but signal falls WAY off when I move to another floor of the house.

Currently testing out the Google Nest WiFi Pro -- doesn’t seem to do anything.

Any other suggestions? I'd hate to have to go back to cable because of this.

Nah.  If you have (or had) a decent WiFi router in the past, just use Ethernet to plug it in from your TMHI (I've done this), or use a WiFi extender.  Can't speak for Nest, I've used the Netgear AC1200 (ethernet  over powerline + WiFi) kit.  Good for a couple hundred Mbps, and lasts … forever.

Only downsides:  old, electrical devices (some GFI) cause noise (Vacuum, hair dryer).

Upside:  You could purchase a 100' power extension cord, and plug it in, and it will work.  Great for backyard garage service, as it has ethernet on both ends, and wifi hotspot as well.

Ha! Well, I guess I could run a really long Ethernet cable up the steps. Or maybe the nest will work with a mesh network … or maybe that'd just be another bunch of stuff to return.

  • if you have multiple floors then you’ll probably need multiple set ups on both floors..signal gets cut back a bit just going through walls with all the nails, wiring etc..floors would be a bit more.
