Portugal's MEO carrier shutting down 3G and limiting 2G to non-internet by the end of 2023.

It’s the way the world is going. 2G and 3G are inefficient when compared with LTE and 5G.

Well… we’re not Portugal, and T-Mobile has already shutdown its 3G, with only 2G still existing until next spring.

T-Mobile effectively ‘gives out’ 5G devices, which are probably a lot more useful over T-Mobile’s full footprint than their 2G (much smaller) coverage area.
