Netflix downgrade

Hey Netflix,

"You currently have Netflix ON US included in your plan. Netflix ha actualizado recientemente sus niveles de suscripción, ahora recibirás Netflix Standard con anuncios, lo que te proporcionará más funciones y ventajas. Este beneficio seguirá siendo POR CUENTA NUESTRA ($0). No necesitas hacer nada. This change will take effect between January 25 and February 1."

How is changing my subscription from “no ads” to “includes ads” “providing more features and benefits to you”?

I never received anything that T-Mobile was downgrading our Netflix to an ads plan. T-Mobile is going to crap since we've been with them about a year ago. We switched from Verizon to T-Mobile thinking we were getting a better carrier but little by little T-Mobile is deteriorating. I tried using Netflix last night for the first time since the downgrade and it doesn't work on older Roku it says you need to change your plan, but it did work on newer Amazon fire stick. The ads free plan is the same price it was before so this change to ads plan was for 1 reason TO SAVE T-MOBILE MONEY!

They put it out via emails and texts. I got several notifications of the change.

I called back to get the porting pin number so I can easily change carriers and the agent said she would do everything she can to keep me as a customer, I explained about the Netflix downgrade and felt it is a reduction in benefit and she put me on hold.  When she returned, she offered to upgrade me back to the Netflix without ads and will issue a $8.50 credit each month, for 6 months.  I accepted and will revisit this again in 6 months.  I quickly got my Netflix back without ads and the credit appeared on my account dashboard.  I think it may depend on which agent you get as to how much help they are willing to do for you.

I tried after about 30 minutes on the phone the best he could do was 2 months.  I explained the whole situation that this was a major downgrade. I signed up for the Magenta Max plan which I could have selected a lower plan to have netflix standard with ads but went with the max plan since it was standard no ads.  Netflix was 12.99 for without ads and 9.99 with ads.  Now netflix reduced the price of without ads to 6.99 and raised with ads to 15.49 and tmobile is pocketing the difference by reducing everyone. I pushed that to keep what I had when I signed up is now a price increase when was told no changes to your price ever.  He understood and is taking it higher up and did talk with his supervisor but wouldnt budge on trying to get a 6 month 8.50 credit.  I hope more tmobile customers raise a storm against them for this mess. He didnt realize some programs are now locked said he would look as well I listed some shows to him that are now blocked and says need to upgrade your plan to watch.

Tmobile is a business and now that they have more users they can now cut back on the free stuff and offer Hulu with ads.

I just read the full details on Hulu its only good for 12 months then you may have to pay 7.99 per month.

I recommend everyone here contacting their state’s attorney general’s office and logging a complaint. Straight up bait and switch. I’m sure they have T&C’s that cover them but going from a plan valued at $15.49 to $6.99 is stealing. I upgraded to the more expensive Magneta plan taking into account the Netflix benefit--should have never trusted them and just paid for my phones out right.

"bring it up with Netflix then..this isnt a decision on TMOs part..carriers dont get to make the rules for other companies"

You couldn't be more wrong on this, T-Mobile can keep giving it customers what they promised them when they signed up. They'll just have to eat the cost or make a new deal with Netflix. The benefit equates to $15.49 of value for the current one, now it's going to equate to $6.99, how is that not a Downgrade? I to, will be looking at other carriers and plans.

Did you ever read the fine print that terms can change and promo can end at any time!

Did you read the part where we decided to pay more with T-Mobile than alternatives because of the extra benefit?  Did you read the part where they are taking us for granted to stay regardless?

What does that have to reading the fine print? That wasn't in the fine print was it?

  • The fact that they are now covering  6.99 instead of 15.49,  is not an upgrade. They need to go back to the old plan to have any credibility or find themselves in some sort of lawsuits.

  • At this junction, I wish there was a way to simply say, I don't want the "Netflix on us" and simply pay less for my bill. Ultimately, it's only a benefit because somewhere in the bill we're secretly paying for it. I wonder how low I could get my bill down to if I wasn't paying for "free" benefits I don't really use and mostly don't want. I've never seen a point to the Tuesday perks (mostly crap). My bill has for some reason gone up, while having the same services. The signal around my house is still lame. ¿Cuál es el problema?
