Speedtests on Sagemcom using wired ethernet speeds are crippled
I just signed up 5 days ago and got the sagemcom gateway. Noticed I can get 350 Mbps using the sage's wifi but if i do the same speedtest a minute later using wired (ethernet) i get around 40 Mbps.
This makes no sense as wired should always be faster and more reliable than any radio wave signal.
I’m a network engineer and i can transfer 2 files between my 2 computers with the same cables and network adapters at 100 MB/s (1 Gbps) so i'm 100% sure it’s an issue with the gateway
Adding to that, if I repeat the same file transfer test when connected to wifi, the file transfer is done at 40-50 Mbps as well. I have my tplink mesh connected to one of the ports, so even if i use that signal to do a speed test (which is a wifi 5 mesh, meaning it's capped at 866 Mbps) i get much worse results.
I have seen reported this issue many times over the unofficial tmobile isp reddit specifically when using the sagemcom https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobileisp/comments/ybm7yl/sagecom_to_router_speeds_my_wireless_router_speed/
I recorded a video with speedtests done with wifi and wired and got tforce to create ticket 72045919 . Looking forward to a resolution of this, I'm just hoping it's a bug that can be patched via firmware and not a hardware defect.

@tmobile could we please get a solution to this?

I got the new KVD21 yesterday. No instructions so I just swapped the sim card from the Sagemcon and installed from the app. All went well. I'm getttig over 300mps wireless. Ethernet directly connected to the modem shows 120-150mps. Ethernet connected in my office after going through the walls and 2 ethernet switches shows a bit less at 90-95. While ethernet is still much less than wireless the sagemcom was only giving me 30-50mps. It's an improvement that I can live with but I still don't understand how ethernet is so much slower.

As an ex-IT guy I ran all the usual troubleshooting as well. My only theory is power resources in these units are dedicated to pumping out wifi signal and the ethernet ports are throttled back. I suspect this to be something of a selling point to make the wifi seem better than a hard connection. Just my thought.

I was able to work around this problem by connecting an ethernet cable to the WAN port on my router to a GL-SFT1200 travel router LAN port. This saved me buying a router that supports WAN over wifi or a different cell gateway.
I am able to get the same speed with my router now as on wifi with the Sagecom which is about 450 mbps up and 15 mbps down.
The Sagemcom is set to 5GHz channel 36 with 80 MHz bandwidth using HINT. I have the 2GHz radio off in the GL-SFT1200 and the Sagemcom. The GL-SFT1200 is configured as a network extender. My main router is set to channel 149 on 5GHz. Having the primary router channel set to something much higher frequency than the Sagemcom prevents radio communication interference.

I just got a Sagecom FAST56688W gateway and noticed the same thing as you. When connected with an ethernet connection I get a significantly lower speedtest result than when connected wirerlessly. The problem seems to be with the gateway but i havnt fully diagnosed the problem yet.

I am getting the same issue. I used Speedtest.net. I connected my laptop directly to the tower with an ethernet cable. Speed averaged 35-45mps. Disconnected the ethernet and connected to wifi. Speeds average over 200mps. We've had T-Mobile internet since Dec 2022. These results are consistent over the 5-10 times I've tried it.
Not sure what’s going on and don’t have time to wait 30 minutes on hold to talk to their tech support.

Add me to the list. I've had the Sagemcom since Jan 2, 2023. I can get upto 400 Mbps on wifi6 thru the gateway but will max out at 170 Mbps thru the ethernet port.
Every time I contact support or T-force they say it's not a known problem. How do I get added to the support ticket if possible?

they just released a new firmware but it’s unknown what fixes were included and we don't know exactly when it's actually going to hit ours, as it could take weeks

Update: I finally called T-Mobile Internet support. After I described the fact that WiFi was significantly faster than ethernet with the Sagemcom the agent went away for awhile. When he returned he said that it was a defective modem and they would issue a warranty replacement. However, the replacement would be with an Arcadyan KVD21 Gateway (which he said is newer than the Sagemcom). I'll post an update when I receive and install the Arcadyan KVD21 Gateway.

I still have my original Sagemcom. The 1st replacement was a Arcadyan and had terrible 5G performance. I didn't even bother testing the ethernet. It was returned immediately. My 2nd Arcadyan should be arriving today for me to test. I'll post results here.
Here are my current Sagemcom speeds:
