Trade in Issue
I sent in my phone for a trade in recently. It was advertised it was worth a $1000 credit. Now they are saying the IMEI number doesn't match the phone on file and they will only give me a $200 credit. How is this possible? It's the same phone and I've had it for less than a year. I've already sent the phone in and received a new one and have been saddled with payments that I didn't plan on having

A similar thing happened to me. I was told that my Pixel 8 Pro was worth $500 and the value was reduced to $375. My phone was kept in an Otterbox case for the entire time I owned the phone and it looked brand new. The email I received said the value was reduced because the IMEI number was different. I believe that T-Mobile is doing this to cheat its customers or they have incompetent people checking in their phones. How does an IMEI number get changed. Are they implying that we did not return the phone that we used for service?
