10 Topicshow to reduce ping / latency with 5g home internet
hey! I just got the service and the download and upload speed are working great. unfortunately,I'm not about to game anymore because of the latency / ping. the ping on my speed test usually reads about 50-60ms but onceI'm in game it's around 120 and has a lot of lag. I was wondering if there's any way to reduce lag / latency? maybe connecting a high-speed gaming router? is that possible? does a 5ghz network help? thank you so much for any help!!!!64KViews4likes12ComentariosProblem with high latency/ping
Hello all. We received our 5g Gateway two days ago and so far, have big problems. We've been testing our latency and speeds over and over at https://www.speedtest.net and have observed the latency/ping on both our Windows 11 PCs is consistently between 40-60ms, at all hours of the day and night. Download varies between 160mbps and 0.5mbps. Upload is steady around 20-40mbps. We have done the following: Moved around the Gateway to many different areas of the house, tested the results at Speedtest.net, and selected the best area (3 bars). Oddly, this is NOT close to a window, but in the middle of the kitchen. (Yes, I am an RF engineer and I know how nuts that is. Makes zero sense to me, but that's what our results repeatedly demonstrate. Regardless, ping is the same everywhere in the house.) Downloaded and run TCPOptimizer Rebooted our machines several times Contacted Tech Support, who said something about "keeping an eye on the tower" and promised to call us back in 24 hours. (It's now been 24+ hours.) Does anyone have ideas to help us lower this ping? It's severely interfering with video calls and online gaming. ¡Gracias!10KViews4likes6ComentariosExtremely high latency with home internet
Just recently got the home internet gateway and it's been incredibly disappointing. For the price of it and the fact we have cell towers, including tmobiles towers, within less than a milebof our home, it's been incredibly underwhelming. Speeds are anywhere between 20mbs and 300, meanwhile the latency is consistently well over 120ms (as high as 800) on downloads and several thousand milliseconds on upload. We've had the gateway in every spot we could think of, each one reading "excellent" signal on the gateway and app and single location was better than any other. Even had it sitting outside the balcony and it was still horrendous performing tests directly on top of it. Is there anything to bother trying with this or just send it back? Was hoping for something at least halfway decent compared to what I had last and somehow it's come up even worse for wireless connection.6.2KViews0likes17ComentariosWill Latency Improve as the Service Matures?
Obviously there is a limit to how good latency can be with a wireless signal like T-Mobile Home Internet is using, but I'm just wondering if it is expected to mature over time. I'm a big gamer and I've been tolerating the ping because my only other internet option has much better ping but a tiny fraction of the speed. Lately however, I don't know if it's the spring leaves coming back on the trees or what--it's been getting noticeably worse. It used to be a consistent 80ms in Overwatch, my favorite title, but now its more like 105-120ms with spikes to 300ms. It's making it very difficult and I'm questioning whether I can continue using the service. I have the white box router Model: RTL 0102. My signal is only "Good" but I haven't found any place in my house where it can be improved further.3.4KViews1like7Comentarioscan anyone help me get better upload speed
I got the home internet being a 21 year old just moving out into the world. I only use it to game I told them that they said it would be perfect! Especially with a ethernet cable! I was lied to I'm currently sitting at 1.5 mbps for upload and it drops lower and 20-50 for downloading making gaming literally impossible! I can't even connect to my own psn! Without the ethernet the PS5 won't even connect to it! The PS5 say the connect far to weak to connect.I've call the T mobile technicians 3 times and every time I get a told that they're gonna fix things on their end and to reboot itand then end the call with me.IfI get told that a gonna im just gonna end my service, so maybe someone here can help and keep me at T mobile!199Visto1like6ComentariosNetflix problem with latency causing long buffering time
Netflix has become unusable with our T-Mobile home internet. I have traced the problem to unusually high latency to the Netflix server. Pinging netflix.com shows that we are losing packets. The attached picture shows the latency of Netflix compared to HBO. Any internet experts with ideas?Solved150Visto0likes1ComentarioArcadyan KVD21 Gateway preventing my PS5 from connecting through ethernet
Recently just got a ethernet cord from a friend and expected better speeds than 7Mbps (which I have been having) so I can play Helldiviers 2 with my said friend and not lag or get kicked due to "connectivity issues" every 10 mins. Instead Igot an issue with the ethernet,I connected an ethernet cord to my arcadyan KVD21 gateway then to my PS5 went to establish the connection on my PS5 it worked for 5-10 minutes, then it wouldn't connect with my PS5 saying that the router might be preventingthe ethernet connection, and to make sure I can connect regularly (which I can) by testing the connection using my computer or mobile device. What should I do? Am I able to change from IPV6 to IPV4 so I can connect my PS5 through a LAN cable? Does the arcadyan KVD21 gateway not support ethernet connection to PS5? Am I gonna have to switch Internet Providers?99Visto0likes0ComentariosAnyone else having untenable tower issues?
I've been having issues with my TMHI since the middleof November, roughly. They've done tower maintenance twice since then and I honestly feel like that's done more harm than good. I routinely get extremely low speeds and even worse, 400-500ms latency. The jitter is also really bad. I've tried moving my tower around my apartment and that didn't help. Its near a window on my desk currently. There's a tower just over a quarter of a mile from my location. I understand that certain types of traffic are prioritized during peak and high load, but this happens all the time to me, I've had it happen in the morning, in the midday, the evening and night, and even at 3 in the morning.I've swapped out my box (FAST 5688W) for an identical unit from the T Mobile store, and that has not helped. Hell, I'd love to argue for some credits back to my account for how often I find myself on my Verizon phone hotspot or the Cox hotspot. Can any support agent help me get one of the G4AR/G4SE units? I'd like to see if an external antenna would help. If not, then I'll probably be cancelling my service and going to Cox. What's the point of paying for a service if you can't use it ¾of the time? 🤷🏽 EDIT: I forgot to mention that right now the download speed is really good for some reason. Also, the packet loss test didn't even run which is new. Send that to your tower engineers, maybe..72Visto0likes0ComentariosWorsening ping over time while gateway is left on
I recently got TMHIand the Arcadyan G4AR gateway. I've noticed that whenever I leave the gateway on for an extended period (4-12 hours), the latency gradually worsens. When I first start the gateway, the ping is 60-80ms with jitter less than 10ms. However, after a few hours, the ping suddenly increases to 100ms or higher, sometimes even reaching 500ms+, with jitter around 200ms. Restarting the gateway resolves the issue, and the ping returns to the initial 60-80ms range with low jitter which makes me think its a gateway issue. I have to constantly restart the gateway, which is inconvenient. Is this a known issue with the G4AR gateway, and is there a way to fix it without frequent restarts?37Visto0likes0Comentarios
