Re: Home Internet - Frequent Disconnects - Possible Fix
Yikes! Is there any isp that actually lives up to the sale pitch? I had to call Hulu eight x yesterday to reset my location. The tech said everyone of them are very familiar with this problem, and have seen a huge jump in calls over the last 2 weeks. She said that they all write reports and escalate them to their engineers, who are supposed to be working with T-MOBILE engineers to get a lasting solution to this problem. One of the reasons I was thinking about Xfinity is that they just did an outside plant fiber upgrade in my 45 year old neighborhood. The old Centurylink copper cable telephone lines, while they managed to provide okay DSL, absolutely could not handle streaming tv. It was horrible! That's when I went with TM. Was very good for about 5 months, but a nightmare since. They really need to get this solved, because these constant outages & ip addresses rapidly changing is an untenable situation for me. Alarm systems go down, I get shut out of websites trying to pay my bills, etc, etc. Would appreciate some communication from them at least acknowledging this problem!30Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: ADS on my Modem, & other issues
Yep, live tv streaming with Hulu. This rapid fire changing of the ip addresses has become a HUGE problem over the last 2 weeks. Prior to this, it was sporadic, maybe once a month or less.. I have reset every possible setting of my home network, disabled my VPN, dumped everything out, rebuilt all info on the tv, etc. That, and the constant service outages have taken their toll on this holiday time. Now, I have to call Hulu again, and see what ip addresses come up now. But, I know this isn't the last call for the night. I am tracking the ip addresses thru 3 different websites, and they have all agreed with the same address ONE time, but they all 3 had different ones, 2 minutes later.. I think I will try out Xfinity next. I won't go Comcast for all services, because I have learned the hard way to keep separate companies for my internet, my tv providers, & my cellphones. No bundling for me ever, again. Centurylink 20mg service was really only good for 8 to 10mbps, and that was on a good day. When I dumped both Directv andDish, and went to streaming services, I wentto TM for internet. Was great for a while, but not now. Satellite internet providers are no good here, so the options are very slim.Right now I have Consumer Cellular, and they rideon TM & AT&T. We had picked TM, because AT&T sucked so bad here. Butnow, when the service dumps from TM internet, our cell service is unusable too. I will be changing that to AT&T on Monday! I am just so over this situation!28Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: IP Location issue
bayhett wrote: Same deal for us in Colorado, except I don't think it's an IP number translation issue since my location will alternate between Aurora, CO (not bad, about 30 miles away) and Memphis, TN (not even the same time zone!) If I go to a geolocation site likehttps://www.where-am-i.co/it will switch back and forth constantly - mostly the Memphis address, but then every so often it will come up as Aurora. When it's wrong it breaks lots of things - streaming content, google maps, local weather reports, my Windows 10 current time, the default timezone for calendaring, and on and on. I spent a bunch of time with "my personal tech support" on T-Mobile - I spoke with 2 techs who were friendly enough, but of no help at all. The second one decided it must be a problem with my computer instead of their gateway and transferred my call to Dell's tech support line even after I told him it's also a problem on my HP computer and phone! It seemed like the problem wasn't addressed in their troubleshooting script anywhere so they just punted - I didn't bother to call back and go through that whole thing again. We have the Nokia 5G21 Gateway, but Iheard from a human T-Mobile employee at one of their retail storesthat there is a "new" fancier 5G gateway available now - does anyone have this new hardware, but continue to have geolocation problems? I'm tempted to call and demand the newer gateway. How did that work for you? I am having constant problems now. Drops in service,no service for hours, wildly fluctuating speeds. As of the last two weeks I am either out of service completely, then rebootingfor the 1000thtime. Then I have great download, but ZERO upload. This a new one. The rapidly changing ip addresses have become a huge problem, too. I have been on the phone with Hulu everyfew hours to reset my zip & new IP addresses, today, eleven times. It's doing the error message right now. I have not had this problem at this intensity, EVER. This is a TM problem, period. As you said, this disrupts log ins on websites, and countless other problems. All of these problems are all over these forums, and it appears that NOBODY has found a fix that lasts. Other than dumping TM, which is where I will probably end up doing myself. They were woefully under equipped to handle this customer load, and most of the tech people follow a flowchart for responses, that all end up with short term fixes. I have had issues escalated a number of times, and never got a callback from anyone. This is not a smart, nor profitable way to run a business. Apparently, they don't care. At least I live in an area with more choices. Dumped Centurylink over a year ago because they could not sustain the speeds necessary to handle streaming tv services after I dumped both Dish & Directv. I'm going to try out the Xfinity internet option next.13Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Home Internet - Frequent Disconnects - Possible Fix
I have spent countless hours over the last week calling Hulu to reset my zip to the rapidly changing ip addresses. Been having constantly dropping internet speeds, and no service at all. Constantly rebooting, and at least 15 x in the last 2 weeks we were down for 5 hours plus. Modem is not hot at all. It's been moved all over the house, reset, again and again. No "fix" lasts. I got this service 9 months ago, had about a week worth of problems, then just a few outages. The last 5 weeks have HORRIBLE. Now we have the rapid changing ip addresses problems too. This also disrupts log ins on my iPhones& iPad, the websites, especially bill paying onesthink that my connection is being high jacked. Then I get kicked out, and in some I have had to change passwords just to access them again. This 100% untenable. I have heard that Xfinity has far fewer problems, and sets you up with a static ip, so you don't get constant error screens from streaming services. We'll see.93Visto1like0ComentariosADS on my Modem, & other issues
In addition to all of my other problems that have me constantly rebooting my gateway, I am seeing ads come up trying to sell me insurance, etc. Sometimes even using another person name, as if they had this gateway! Then it says, type END tounsubscribe. How exactly you do this on a modem?!! Service dropping, and rapid fire IP address changes have cost me hours every day for weeks. Have to call HULU 5 to 10 x a day now to reset my zip code to an IP address, then it changes 30 minutes later, and back on the phone I go. Internet has been out 5 mornings out 7 this week. Drops out a minimum of 4 x a day. Does TM even care to attempt to sustain this service? Or just blame Hulu, and every other tv provider, etc. This is a TM architecture problem. Network was clearly NOT ready to handle the customer load. I have heard the same excuses over and over again regarding poor internet connectivity. The ENGINEERS accidentally moved me to a new tower. They just"cleared the backlog". Goes out again the next day. Over all of it, really. Going to look elsewhere for decent service.Re: Is anyone else having problems with a changing IP address?
nstclair wrote: Just checking in on this as there are a few threads discussing the same thing. Has there been any resolutions/solutions posted by users or T-Mobile through the various months and year this problem has been posted? None that I have experience. Huge problems all week.14Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Rapid changes in my Dynamic IP Address
Hasn't for me. My ip address came up different on three Ip checkers within 60 seconds. Then 3 minutes later it changed on all of those sites. None of them are duplicates from the other ones I have been on the phone with Hulu 23 x in the last 3 days Now, today, 8 x due to the rapid changes in addresses. Now a new error message comes up at the end of every show saying that Hulu only works on a home network, not a mobile one. I DO have a home network set up! We have broken down every bit of it & reset EVERYTHING. Even disconnected my VPN. At the end of the next show, the message comes back. Then internet signal goes out, as it has multiple x in the last 3 weeks18 x in the last 2 days. So I reboot the modem over & over. I keep getting zero mg upload problems even when my download is 86 mb. So it came back up, & here I am, back to the Not at home error screen again. Hulu says they have been avalanched with calls to reset the error. Problems with T-MOBILE have now consumed 5 hours of my day. They are losing me as a customer. The speeds dump during high usage hours to as low as 3 mbps, or none at all. Can't even use our other devices at the same time! This service has become horrendously undependable. No one at TM knows how to fix it, or blames Hulu, or they just don't give a care about your service problems. This is an unsustainable way to run a business.15Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Is anyone else having problems with a changing IP address?
I have made 7different calls to Hulu in the last 30 hours, due to the error page that says that it looks like I am not at home. My i.p. Address has changed multiple times. Each time, I am asked if I just traveled to Belleview WA, or Kansas, etc. or moved from one of the many places. 3 times today I have called in &each one tries to override those locations, and once again, they have to take all of my info, & build me back in. This is a well known T-Mobile problem.I had trouble with this when I first got the Gateway for a week or so, then for the 6 months there was no problem with THAT issue. Now, suddenly, I'm back at square one. Had I known that TM does not interface with Hulu, had I known that the speeds would fluctuate so wildly, & that the service would drop at least twice a day, if not more, I never would have signed up. The last month, at least half of the mornings we woke up to no internet. I have unplugged this modem & rebooted it countless times. Of course, the gateway always says my connection is Good! They clearly were not ready for load on the cell network. I have heard dozens of excuses about the engineers accidentally moving me from one tower to another, blah, blah, blah. Troubles have been escalated to 2nd tier, but no one ever calls back. I have been looking into other isps, like Xfinity, & it seems that even though it has some issues from time to time, it's far better than this, & a lot faster.I am DONE.12Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Unstable Home Wifi
I continue to have the same problems. I have called in to tech lines, all who promised to escalate to the engineer level. I have been told three times that I was accidentally connected to the wrong cell tower that was toofar away. I have been told this has to do with all of the 5G upgrades at towers. I have also been told that is not true. Anyway, things were going fine for a while, but for the last 6 weeks service drops at least once a day, and for the last 2 weeks, prolonged outages every day. Started today around 6 am. We use Hulu as our streaming service, so all programs have been stalling, freezing, and just plain "unable to connect" and other message screens. My speed numbers have been fantastic, and one minute later, barely registering. The ping is ridiculously high, one reading was 1330ms. Done all of the usual tasks, rebooted this unit 8 times since last night. Tv has been up for the last 4 hours, but it is MADDENING. Freezes every 60 seconds, starts the conversations over and over. Took 2 hours longer to try and watch a show today. As a side note, Hulu told me that one problem they have with T-MOBILE is they constantly change ip addresses, & that make Hulu think that you are changing physical location, which you are only allowed to do 4 times. Otherwise they think that you are giving out your PW. This has happened to me 6times, during which time I am blocked, and have to call in to Hulu. Their engineers tell that TM doesn't interface with them correctly, and was rolled outtoo soon before throughly testing, but it is being worked on at TM. This is getting really OLD. I am investigating other services now, but I won't make the mistake of not checking chat rooms, complaints, etc. before I settle on a new one. Oh, and now the tv & all of the wireless devices are totally out. Cellphones, with a different company, are fine. Guess we'll be watching tv on the iPad tonight. 🙄19Visto0likes0Comentarios
