Re: VPN issues
I couldn't connect to my IP cameras inside my house due to the lack of a fixed IP address, however, I came up with a workaround that allowed me to see the camera images. That is, I placed all the camera images onto a spare computer screen, and connected that computer to my cell phone in the field using "Any Desk"; a desktop sharing application. In other words, I tunneled (?)through the T-Mobile hotspot. This was a kluge, but it worked. However, hooking up the rest of the house would be a nightmare, so I'm sticking with my current ISP. (Note: any desk sharing application can be an outright security threat. )3Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Home Internet Port Forwarding working in 2021?
Regarding the lack of port forwarding, I put the cameraimagesonto an Android tablet that is also running "Anydesk". When away from home, using my cell phone that also has the 'Anydesk' ap, I can connect to the tablet computer at home and see the camera images. It's slower than I like, but it works. However, I also have internet switches in the house, as well as a Wifi garage door opener, and a Wifi controlled AC unit and this will be hard to do with the same approach. If Anydesk can punch through the T-Mobile network, a VPN can also, I'm assuming. Will try this next. So much time has been blown on this... I'll probably return the unit.2Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: is port forwarding enabled?
I had to send my hotspot back because it lacked port forwarding for my cameras. It's a shame because the unit was very fast at 137 Mb/sec. So, as an experiment, I displayed the camera images on a Windows PC that was running 'Anydesk'. The Windows PC was connected to the internet via a T-mobile cellphone hotspot. On a differentcellphone, using the cell phone's mobile internet feature, I connected to the Windows PC using the Anydesk app in the cell phone. And, I could see the cameras. (not exactly port forwarding, I know). I rejected this setup because it was a kluge. WE NEED PORT FORWARDING!!20Visto2likes0ComentariosM2000 Port Forwarding
Hi all, I ordered the 5G M2000 as soon as possible because I was fed up with super slow internet here in rural Florida. Upstairs the unit locked onto 5G and gave me 137+Mbps (yes!) and downstairs, it dropped to 9 Mbps, a problem to be remedied with a repeater. HOWEVER, no matter what I tried with port forwarding, I could not reach my cameras from the outside. This was not a problem with my current ISP and no problem with any installations I've done in the past. I'll give it another try in a few months, but for now, I'm sticking with my current ISP.117Visto0likes1Comentario
