Speed flucuation and gateway/app connection
I feel certain my gateway is in the best location I can find it's a FAST 5688W. When I first got it, speeds flucuated from 400 down to 40 mbps. If it got low I connected to the gateway with the app and did a reboot. When the reboot was finished I was always back up to 300-400 mbps. When I logged in to the interenet I was one tmobile connection. One day the internet went out completely for 48 hours (cut cable under a road they told me). Since that time, I still get 40-400 mbps most of the time, but if I reboot the gateway with the app I 1) usually get my fast reconnection, but when I try to connect to the gateway, it acts like I have no internet connection and says tap to check connection. When I do, it says connected, but it will not take me to the main tmobile app screen. Instead, it tells me to power down and power back up. Then last night, speed was slow. So I rebooted and even though it came back and said connected, using speedtest.net started at 1-2 mbps and increased to about 25 mbps at the end of the test, but intenet navigation was dismally slow. Usually when reboot speeds are slow I'm on N41. If it switches to N71, that's when speeds go higher. It just seem like the gateway could be smart enough to continually seek the best signal.Re: Suddenly slow home internet.
The real question is why the router cannot be smart enough to constantly look for the strongest signal. In the T-Mobile Internet app, tap "MORE" then tap "Advanced cellular metrics". You'll see the following screens. On the "5G" screen you'll see either N71 or or N41. If the router is connected on N41 you'll be getting fast speeds and lesser speeds on N71. I don't know now to tell if it's switching between 4G LTE and 5G. Which still begs the question why can't the router be smart enough to constantly search for the best connection possible. If course internet traffic makes some difference as well as signal strength. Maybe a heavy rainstorm soaks all the trees between you and the cell tour. When I first reboot, I often see N41 and when I do I get 200-400 mbps. It usually quickly switches to N71 and speed drops to 40-70 mbps. It's somewhat maddening, but I live by myself and 40-70 works for me for anything I want to do.1Ver0likes0ComentariosRe: is there a plug and play external antenna for Sagemcom Fast 5688W Gateway
Wilson Amplifiers has a possible solution but it's only 4G LTE. It involves a raised external antenna that captures the signal and sends it to an internal unit that then sends it to the 5688W. Give them a look. The reason I didn't try it was because the trees between me and the cell tower are over 100 feet tall (pine, oak, poplar, elm). I could never erect a safe antenna that would be sturdy and not end up being a lightning rod. If you only need 20-30 feet to clear the trees, maybe it would work for you. wilsonamplifiers.com14Visto0likes0ComentariosSpeed degrades over time after router reboot
I reboot my FAST 5688W and check speedtest.net I often see anywhere from 120-220 or higher mbps. But as time passes (couple of hours), that speeds falls anywhere from 25-50 mbps. It seems like the FAST router ought to be smart enough to continually optimize it's performance. Anyone else notice this problem?62Visto0likes1Comentario
