Thank you to cadillacmike above and several others who posted links to the Android Central article, explaining that it was indeed T-Mobile that pushed out an erroneous system change thatcaused all the trouble. Like many of you, our phones are safety, health, and businesstools and we couldn't wait, so we bought Samsung phones at T-Mobile. However, we figured maybe the LG phones (which we had originally bought at T-Mobile's recommendation) would be usable as wifi-only devices. The old phones continued to pop up the error messages on wifi! So, we tried the fixes described above, and found that after doing the "force-stop, clear cache, clear data" over and over again for over 20 times (!), the popups finally stopped. Then they started again 24 hours later, then we did the "force-stop, clear cache, clear data" thing about 20 times in a row yet again, and the popups ceased again. We have not seen the problem recur today. GOOD JOB to the majority of posters who correctly surmised the root cause of this problem. There are many, many concurrent threads on this same issue on this forum. Search for "LG IMS Keeps Stopping" and you will find at least six other threads. The local T-Mobile store told us they have been flooded with desperate customers with "bricked" LG phones and T-Mobile is selling phones so fast they are worried about running out of stock. They convinced us to purchase two new Samsung phones before they are gone. Please, if you hear that a "fix" is being pushed out by LG, try to find out if it will work on WiFi now that our old LG phones are no longer connected to T-Mobile! There are at least six different threads on this forum on this same topic, all very active. Just search for "LG IMS Keeps Stopping" or similar words, and you will find them. The problem started this past Sunday. Every model of LG phone is affected, but only on the T-Mobile network. We visited our local T-Mobile retail store. The employees there are extremely smart and tech-savvy. They all said they have been flooded with LG phone / T-Mobile customers and the avalanche is increasing every hour. NONE of the alleged fixes worked on ANY of the phones and ALL the technicians have been trying their best for two days…this is what they said. Could LG have pushed an update of EVERY model last Sunday, that "bricked" all of their own phones? Could T-Mobile have accidentally updated their network so it isn't compatible with LG anymore? They told us there is no solution in sight, and they were selling phones so fast they were running out. We visited the local T-Mobile retail store today. They were very busy. They told us that they have been flooded with LG/T-Mobile customers whose LG phones suddenly "bricked" Sunday, and the flow of customers has been increasing ever since. Both the customers and the service technicians tried every alleged "fix" on every LG phone (they have had every LG model brought in during the past 2 days) and nothing worked. In the end, most customers decided to purchase new 5G phones. They told us they are selling phones so fast they are calling for more shipments, hoping they will not run out of inventory. We were suspicious, but finally decided to purchase two new Samsung phones because we felt we have no choice. The "help" lines are jammed at both LG and T-Mobile, so to get the latest update, consider interviewing the employees at your local T-Mobile store. We visited the local T-Mobile store today. They said they have been flooded with customers with "bricked" LG phones of every model and after trying every possible "fix" none of them worked on any of the phones. They have been selling new phones like hotcakes and they are concerned that they are going to run out of inventory...they are calling for more shipments as fast as possible. We observed a line of customers, all with the same problem. Every employee said they had been working on this problem for two days and this is only the tip of the iceberg. There are six different active threads on this site on this same topic and I posted a long Q and A with the T-Mobile retail store employees on a different thread. We had our doubts, but they convinced us to purchase two new Samsung phones today. It seems unlikely that LG would push a disastrous update to every model of their phones (on T-Mobile only) and "brick" their own phones…how would LG benefit? Yes, it seems to affect the entire line, all models, of LG phones. So far it sounds like the "error message every 5 seconds" is only popping up on the T-Mobile network...if anyone hears differently, please post. There are six different threads active on this site today on this same subject due to the widespread interest and many people involved. On one of the other threads, I just posted a long Q and A with the technicians at the local T-Mobile store. Bottom line: 1) They have seen just about every LG model come in during the past two days; 2) They tried every alleged fix, and nothing worked on any phone; 3) Both the LG and T-Mobile support help lines are jammed; 4) T-Mobile has been doing a land-office business selling new phones since Sunday, with sales increasing so fast they are worried about selling out! There are arguments on both sides: The problem is only LG, but also appears to be onlyT-Mobile. It seems implausible that LG would push out an update for every model of phone last Sunday without telling anybody. Could T-Mobile have innocently updated their network so that it was accidentally not compatible with LG anymore? On one of the other threads here, I posted a Q and A with our local T-Mobile store personnel. I will not repeat the entire Q and A here, but it was very interesting. The store technicians stated that they had laboriously tried every alleged fix and they were not able to fix ANY LG phone that came in during the past two days...and there had been a steady stream. They expect the rest of this week to be very busy. T-Mobile is currently saying it is an LG problem. The help lines at both LG and T-Mobile are experiencing unusually high volumes. We had a long line at our T-Mobile store, full of customers with "bricked" LG phones, purchasing new phones because they can't afford to be out-of-communication for much longer. We hesitated until they told us that they might be selling out of the popular models, and they didn't know for sure when they would get more. That tipped us over the edge to purchase two new Samsung phones today. UPDATE: LOCAL T-MOBILE RETAIL STORE WAS HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE We drove over to the local T-Mobile retail store and here are the answers they gave us: Q - What is the problem and what caused it? A - The error message is popping up on most models of LG phones on the T-Mobile network. Some incompatibility occurred between LG and T-Mobile starting Sunday. At the moment T-Mobile is saying it is an LG problem. There are long wait times on both the LG and T-Mobile help lines, due to high call volume. Q - How widespread is the problem? A - Customers started trickling in on Sunday and increased throughout the day. There has been a steady line of customers all day Monday. They all have the same problem at the same time, and they have all different models of LG phones. Q - Did the store personnel try any of the recommended fixes and did any of them work on any of the customer phones? A - Store personnel tried all the recommended fixes on many different customer phones and unfortunately not anyof the fixes was able to fix any of the phones. Some of the attempts were very lengthy and laborious. Every retail employee present had attempted to fix numerous phones. The retail employees seemed to have very good technical knowledge and they were very open and courteous in answering questions. Q - What are the customers doing after discovering they have non-usable phones? A - Some of them decided to wait to see if LG or T-Mobile comes up with a fix. Others decided to purchase different phones on the spot. For this reason, sales of phones are much higher than usual. The most popular models are expected to be sold out by the end of the day and the store is trying to get more units shipped in as fast as possible. CONCLUSION: As we stood there at about 3 PM, more and more customers were coming in with the same problem, interested in replacing their LG phones. We decided to go ahead and purchase two new Samsung phones, before the most popular models were sold out. You are doing a good job trying to help and you deserve total appreciation for your efforts. By the way, if you purchase a new phone, comment to the retail store why you are doing so…and save the receipts. This problem is so widespread, it is involving many thousands of persons. But again, thank you sincerely to all the posters…without you, we would not have evidence of the very large number of people affected. THANK YOU sincerely to the users who are sharing the fixes that worked for them. It is not your fault that the fixes might not work for other people, and you deserve appreciation for your effort. This problem was not caused by any individual user, and I am sure that T-Mobile did not want to cause the problem either. We just need to get T-Mobile aware of the dimensions of the situation so that their response is appropriate. Widespread posts on many different forums, here and elsewhere, indicate that generally people are not recovering from this problem. But THANK YOU to all!5Visto2likes0Comentarios
