Re: Gateway 5G G4AR
henry51 wrote: @TomR1945, have you tried adding a line using TMO's website?https://www.t-mobile.com/home-internet/eligibility?INTNAV=tNav:CheckAvailabilityIt might be worth a try becuase the stores might not be on the same page as the online site. If you can order a second line online, I believe that in the Nater Tater referenced video it is mentioned that in the ordering process a code shows indicating the gateway one is going to receive. If it is not the G4AR, one can cancel the ordering process. Again, it might be woth a try. Yes, henry, the T-Mo rep tried to add the second account but when he got to adding my address everything came to a screechinghalt! My area is at it's maximum capacity and no new accounts can be added. I just tried again using your link and it would not even accept my address. I think I will try using a bogus address for service and my address for billing. Just a Tinkerer7Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Gateway 5G G4AR
I'm in Florida and my local store tells me I cannot exchange, upgrade, purchase, order or otherwise obtain the new G4AR router. As Nater Tater said in the above referenced video, if youadd a second Home Internet line, youMAY get the new gateway. When I asked my local store rep to addthenew line, I was told I could not because my area was at max capacity. So I guess it comes down to waiting for T-Mo to get their act together and make this gateway available as an option or outright purchase. As I'm sure s/he will tell you, this isn't really hard. I think the bigger question is why you need to set up a static IP for security cams. I have both Blinks and SimplySafe cams and they both are working just fine with myArcadyan KVD21 5G Gateway. without static iPs. In addition, they didn't even need to be power-cycled in order to recognize the new gateway and get a new IP address. Did you set up the T-Mobile gateway with the same WiFi name(s) (SSID) as your old system? If you did, the change-over to T-Mobile should be transparent to the devices on your network. As an example, if the name of your WiFi network was, say, TomR, you should recreate that name in the T-Mobile app. You may have to power-cycle a device like a camera or smart switch to get a new IP address, but it will automatically find and connect to your T-Mobile gateway, which is now acting as your DHCP server. OK, that question just pointed out my lack of knowledge on the subject at hand. Yes, the T-Mo gateway has the same names and pass codes. And if memory serves me, he NVR did not come online. I had my alarm company restore everything remotely. Here is what I am seeing. When my NVR looses power and is restarted, it will not display the camera images. My original configuration is offline. The system will search for an online device but not connect. I must go through the setup again to add it. I only assumed it was because the IP address has changed. From here, I will contact the service and have their tech determine why that happens. Thanks again. Tom R.9Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Add static IP address to individual device
Thanks for the replyingiTinkeralot and Bocaboy2591. I guess I am referring to client IP addresses. I am upgrading my security cameras and alarm system. That causes multiple shutdowns and re-starts, then it will use a different IP address every time. This is starting to get complicated! I think I better leave it alone and help. I have an IT Guru I could ask to do this, but I want to try it myself. When I have totally screwed it up, I will call him. For some reason, he encourages my tinkering. Firstly, I hope everyone is havinga Merry Christmas and enjoying the holidays! My question. How do I set static IP addresses for specific devices on my home network? I am using the T-Mobile Arcadyan(KVD21) gateway for my network. Thank you. Tom Rhymestine Miami, FloridaPossible causes of frequent Wi-Fi loss.
I have had the Arcadyan gateway for a couple of months now, although it is better than the "Trashcan" Nokia, it still drops the connection. I am experiencing these intermittent outages on an average of 4 or 5 times a day. And that is getting extremally frustrating. I have a strong signal, but low signal to noise ratio. I am unable to give exact figures as the internet is offline again. I noticed when I transferred the SIM card from the Nokia, it has many fine scratches on the contact face. Could this contribute to my problem? In addition, I also notice that the Arcadyan gateway is warm, not hot, but in the 85 to 95 degree range. Just in case, I ordered the 3D printed base just to be on the safe side of this issue. I'm very happy with T-Mobile Home Internet service. I come from AT&T ADSL that never exceeded 5.5 MBs down and 0.4 MBs upload speeds. Latency in the 500 to 800 MS range. Coupled with AT&T's useless customer support and poor service the move was inevitable. Comments, question or or thoughts on this post are welcome. iTinkeralot wrote: When your gateway does a disconnect/reconnect it would be good to see if maybe it is changing the signal source. Your location might be between two signals and the signal jumps from one to the other and back. You can use a the browser interface and use the command to get information from the Arcadyan gateway. Do so each time it reconnects for a few of the episodes and compare the information. I don't recall off the top of my head if the Arcadyan also provides the PCI values for the 4G and 5G signals but that would be a dead give away if the PCI values are changing repeatedly. If that is the case maybe a relocation of the gateway to get signal exposure that puts preference upon one signal source vs the other. Without more information it is hard to tell. http://192.168.12.1/TMI/v1/gateway?get=all Checking and making surethe SIM is seated well is also a very good idea. Some users have had positive results after removing and inserting the SIM into the tray. Of course do that with it powered down. Here is a possible fix you might want to consider. I have the KVD21, version 1.00.16 and have experienced multiple drop outs for weeks. Today, it was a total black-out. The gateway would try to connect and fail intermittently all day. I spent over 12 hours trying to figure out what the problem was. I ended up believing it was weather related as we were experiencing torrential rain bands from Ian. After reading iTinkeralot's final paragraph,I has an Eureka Moment! I remembered an old trick from years in the air conditioning trade. If a new contactoryou just installed wouldn'twork, the first thing I would do is look at the contacts. Occasionally, there would be foreign matter preventing proper closure. So I would clean, or "Burnish" them. And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, was my solution! I took the SIM card out and scrubbed the contact side with a pencil eraser and blew the residue off. Reinserted and my internet is now back to normal. Give it a try, it only takes a couple of minutes and may save you hours of frustration! Tom R.6Visto0likes0Comentarios
