The Insights Overview Dashboard report is a first stop destination for monitoring weekly change in app engagement performance for those apps that are of particular interest. Once the Overview Dashboard is set up with three (3) most important apps to be monitored for an easy and manageable way to keep track of what is happening in the app.

Reading the Overview Dashboard Report

The Insights Overview Dashboard contains a wealth of information pulled from across the full suite of Insights' analytic report pages.

Available Reports

The Overview Dashboard is an amalgamation of different high-level reports from across the Insights suite of report pages. The following is a list of the available reports, and the report pages they come from:

  • Ownership Breakdown - Insights > Ownership Report
  • Installation Breakdown - Insights > Installation Report
  • Total & Average Dwell Time by Day of Week - Insights > Engagement Report
  • Unique Engaged Devices by Day - Insights > Engagement Report

Note that the Users and Retention reports are not provided in the Overview Dashboard. The reason that these reports are not included is due to two different reasons:

  • In the case of the Users report, its absence is based on the stable nature of the data it provides. Given that most app demographic skews do not change drastically over time, its not of high value to trend this data week to week.
  • In the case of the Retention report, its absence is based on the complexity of the report set up, and the fact that its most useful when the end user of the report makes decisions on set up based on that individual end user's need for the data.

Deep Linking

Each report in the Overview Dashboard contains a deep-link back to its origin report via the button labeled "View More".

A deep-link from the Total Dwell Time widget in the Overview Dashboard back to the origin report at Insights > Engagement.

When a deep-link for any report widget in the Overview Dashboard is clicked, the end user is taken directly to the origin report for that data, and all filters in the origin report are preset to match those coming from the report widget in the dashboard. For example, when selecting the Total Dwell Time report widget in the Overview Dashboard, the end user is taken to the Insights > Engagement report page, and the filters are auto-populated to the same week, the same apps, and the same date grain as the widget report:
