Autopay discount $5

I signed up for the Magenta 55+ with 3 lines. All the online pricing quotes show final price of $120 and then $105 with $15 autopay applied (3 lines @ $5 each). In store it was confirmed. The next day, after signup, I log onto T-Mobile and the pricing show $110 ($120-$10 autopay discount). I called the T-Mobile store and representative that help me signup confirmed should be $105 and I should wait for the bill to see if it changes. I was in the store again today and the store manager confirmed should be $105 with $15 discount not $10. She mentioned she had never seen that happen before. She also suggested waiting until the bill is generated. So, I get home and receive a text message that the bill is available and as expected Total Due $110 (not $105) including a $10 autopay discount. Account shows 3 active lines being charged: 2 Lines $70 and 3rd Line $40. 

  • I do have autopay method setup to use a Debit Card.

    While I agree that it is still a better deal, I'm still annoyed that Tmobile is going in this customer-hostile direction.  I'll cancel autopay altogether and start sending them checks.  They can earn that $5 per line.

    Make sure it isn't Verizon and AT&T is you next carrier.  Didn't know they had data breaches this year too?  They also had a couple over the past 5 years just like T-Mobile, but for some reason T-Mobile gets the most flack for it.  Welcome to the digital age.

    I literally find is amazing people willing to pay more because they lost a "discount" which chances are their plan is still way cheaper as a principle thing.  I could understand their service is not worth what you are paying and you'd have to pay more to get more.  In my position for example it makes 0 sense to be all mad about a $5 per line discount because I decided to keep using my CC.

    I save $120 over AT&T and more with Verizon without the discount.  If I went by everyone else's principle logic. I'd switch and pay $120 more per month.

    You don't need to switch from using a credit card. I have 2 lines on my account and it will still be cheaper, with an additional $10, than I can get from another carrier.

    You make like the other carriers don’t have data breaches as well…  Honestly if you fear it that much I’d rather continue to use CC and forego the $5 discount especially if I am saving more and getting good/great reception than other carriers. 

     

    My guess is simply some partners for CC processing is charging T-Mobile now per transactions.  Verizon and AT&T already charges the fee bundled into their taxes, and fees sections to make it look like they are not charging for it.

    I never use a debit card for on line purchases.

    Out of curiosity are you using a credit card to pay? If so starting in May autopay credits won't apply while using a credit card.
