Dialing 1-800 numbers in the US from France
Perhaps simple answers, but a) how do I make a call to a US toll-free number from Western Europe (specifically France) and b) how do you insert a “+” on the phone-dialing keypad of a Samsung Galaxy S...

When this question came up before I tried finding the old list of toll-to-toll-free cross-overs and couldn't locate anything on the Internet. It's like it never existed. To the point that I wonder if I just imagined the whole thing. (We're talking 40 years ago.)
One thing I'd try is to enter the number as +1800XXXXXXX and try calling when using WiFi Calling, as this originates the call from the USA. The first question I'd ask when they answer is if there is a regular number you can use to call them.
Wow, you have no idea how you have helped! I did not know that wi-fi calling was as if I was still in the US, so that is the ANSWER, I was trying to call it as if it were a regular international direct-dial call. So when I dialed it without international access and US country code, it goes through!
We can't get back into the US without negative COVID tests, so I need to talk to the online testing company to edit some of the data they have, so this was not an idle or merely a matter of convenience to us, so thank you very much! Really appreciate it.
