McAfee alerted me my Social Security # was found as part of TMobile breach

Just got 4 alerts that my SSN was found on the dark web related to T-Mobile breach.

This is absolutely ridiculous that we are now put in this position with no recourse.

Anyone else experience this, and if so what are the next steps you took to secure yourself.

I wonder why no one from T-Mobile will reply? Is it because legal is advising them to not touch this and Management is not taking responsibility for their poor security?

This is a customer to customer forum and rarely anyone in a position in T-Mobile to actually say anything are ever on here.

Anyone have an explanation why I can't log into the McAfee account profile set up for the T-Mobile Breach?  It wants me to update my phone number, then says page may have moved...nothing there.  On second and third attempts it quit responding altogether.

Yes, finally convinced my husband to freeze his reports as well.  It's very unsettling.  The reason I wanted to get on is to find out how my credit company alerted me to the SSN being on the dark web late January, just in time for Ukraine, and why McAfee scan has not detected it?  Did I NOT include it in my McAfee account profile info to scan?  I have no idea if I can't open my McAfee account that seems to be notifying me of this monthly of a scan.  It's out there, yet I can't get in it nor find it!!!

  • Yep, T-Mobile handed the criminals everything they need it to screw over their customers. I know they both stayed on they didn't get your phone number but I'd rather they have my phone number than all the other information that they could used to do more damage like Social Security #'s, drivers license #'s, addresses! And this is a lifelong issue not something that's going to go away in a few years our information is out there on the dark web forever! Even more shameful is the fact that this is not the first data breach that T-Mobile has had, but by far appears to be the worst!

  • This is infuriating. Tmobile is not guiding customers now that the breach of their systems is impacting so many. Here we are scrounging the internet trying to figure out how to stop any further damage. Do better tmobile!!!

One resource that might help: https://www.identitytheft.gov/

And please let me know if there is new opportunity for class action suit!

  • Yeah same got 3 of them. Weird thing is only one had my SS number and name. The other 2 had other peoples info but my phone number. Also had my DL number on all 3. Was going to call experian to see what else I can do. I'd like a 7 year security alert placed

Yeah I just did this morning.  Already had freezes in place for the big 3 credit companies.  I don't think there is much else we can do. Sucks.
