Battery not holding a charge iphone SE

My iPhone SE is only 5 months old and all of a sudden is not holding a charge. To test it I charged it last night before going to bed and this morning it was at 60%. I closed all tabs etc. I have insurance on the phone but done know the process. Why isn't it holding the charge and what is the process to fix it?

  • There are a few things to do on devices when the battery has charging and power issues suddenly. Here a great resource directly from Apple https://www.apple.com/batteries/maximizing-performance/

    1. Update the software and all installed applications. (Settings>General>Software updates // App store>Account bubble in the top right> Upcoming Automatic Updates section shows what apps have pending updates)
    2. Check your screen brightness and timeout settings
    3. Check your battery usage to make sure that there aren't any unexpected apps using power. (Settings> Battery)

Taking the phone to an Apple store is also a good option because they can run diagnostics to make sure that the hardware is still up to par.

    Hope this helps

Have you tried using a different cord to charge it?
