INTERMITTENT SLOW DATA/ HOTSPOT

I pay extra to have access to 120GB high speed hotspot data. I use it mostly to stream movies and such on my streaming device (kind of like a roku, but it's a Blue ray DVD with streaming capabilities). Anyway, much of the time (I'd say about 60%),  it works fine and I have no problems at all. However, the rest if the time, I cannot stream or use my hotspot as a direct result of slow data. When this happens, I do all the standard things to no avail and end up having to chat with an agent which is time consuming. Most of the time, the issue has not been resolved at the end of several hours worth of trouble shooting, getting disconnected and having to start all over with new agent. Few days later, it starts working again. I think it's a problem with the fundamental system.

Is this being used primarily at your home, or as a true portable hotspot ?

The T-Mobile Home Internet may be less expensive, and doesn't have a limit.  Depending on location, some have been 'deprioritized'.  I've typically used ~400GB/month.  If you have a voice line, its ~$30-$50/month (probably cheaper than a hotspot) and you don't need to purchase hardware.

It is considered to be ‘fixed’ Internet (i.e. don’t expect to take it on the road).

  • Something similar happens to me. I also pay for 120GB, but usually get a text message saying I'm close to reaching 50GB and if I exceed 50GB my data speeds may be reduced. ðŸ¤”

  • I use my hotspot at home to cast to my google chromecast and stream.

I use the T-Mobile Home Internet for Zoom (4-8 hours/day), Netflix/YouTube/Amazon Prime Video/PlutoTV, Cisco VPN, remote desktop, downloading ISOs (6-30GB) and .. other uses.
