T-Mobile Coverage - Island Park, ID

T-Mobile Coverage in Island Park, ID is iffy at best! I spend a week every year in Island Park and T-Mobile coverage is almost non-existent! GPS Coordinates are 44°24'42.83"N 111°23'5.71"W. From other members of the group I go to Island Park with Verizon seems to have no trouble with coverage at this location. It's time for T-Mobile to step up their coverage in this area!

  • Everyone here has a list of T-Mobile dead spots. Unfortunately, none of us on this community forum can can do anything about the situation. T-Mobile has shown themselves to be incredibly tone deaf when it comes to customer complaints.

Thanks for all the responses. Based on that I went to the FCC site where they have coverage maps from all the majors. It does say the maps are submitted by the providers and not verified. I filed an informal FCC complaint stating that the coverage map for T-Mobile is a stretch with the GPS coordinates in my post. The FCC forwards the complaint to the map provider and requires a written response within 30 days. It'll be interesting to see where that goes.

Rural areas are paper thin for coverage on TMobile in many places, and over exaggerated.  Attempting to shine light on rural/exurban/suburban areas can be like an act of congress.  TMobile has great speed/coverage in many areas, and also very poor coverage in many areas (that are better covered by At&t/Verizon)

Good luck.  I’ve filed FCC complaints in the past, and you’ll hear that T-Mobile’s response is ‘T-Mobile doesn’t guarantee coverage’, and the map approximates coverage.

Sadly, in many areas coverage can be correct (IMHO) under the following circumstances:

    • Terrain is entirely flat
    • There are absolutely NO objects between your device and the tower
    • The tower’s panel/antenna is pointed in your direction
    • Your device has no cover, and you are outdoors pointing in the direction of the tower that you can physically see.

In some areas, I can have service from +10 miles with +40Mbps service.  Eg. Cambria LTE B66 2nd story of a house with a view of Hearst Castle.  Walk downstairs to street level where there is a house in between myself and the tower … it becomes 'No Service'.

At 10 miles, and midband, it doesn't take much to obscure the signal.  Morning fog/clouds are enough to cause issues.
