is there a way to turn off cellular service for a period of time (ie set schedule like you can for apps)

The Do Not Disturb feature can help you avoid interruptions during specific times. You can schedule it to automatically activate and deactivate. Here's how you can set it up on an iPhone:
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap on Focus.
3. Select Do Not Disturb.
4. Tap on Add Schedule or Automation.
5. Set the start and end times for when you want Do Not Disturb to be active.
6. Customize any additional settings, such as allowing calls from certain contacts if needed. This way, you won't receive notifications or calls during those hours, and it will automatically turn off when the scheduled time ends.

It depends on your device and some of the criteria to make it happen automatically. In some cases, you could create a routine to put the device in Airplane Mode, if your device supports the ability to do that.
