very high latency without dropped packets
Envyme33 wrote:How do I fix my high latency/ping speed? I have consistently good down and upload internet speed, zero packet loss but my latency is 100@idleDollarTreeCompass-700@download-1000@upload. Hola, @Envyme33
High latency, commonly referred to as ping, can be quite disruptive, especially during online activities that require real-time interaction like gaming or video conferencing. Here are some steps you can take to improve your latency:
Restart Your Router and Devices: Sometimes, simply rebooting your router and the devices you’re using can resolve latency issues.
Use an Ethernet Cable: A wired connection is generally more stable and faster than Wi-Fi. If possible, connect your device directly to the router using an Ethernet cable.
Close Unused Background Applications: Applications running in the background can consume bandwidth and increase latency. Make sure to close any unnecessary programs.
Remove Unused Devices from Your Network: Too many devices connected to your network can cause congestion and high latency.
Update Your Device: Ensure that your device’s firmware and network drivers are up to date.
Connect to a Different Server: If you’re playing a game or using an application that allows you to choose a server, select one that is geographically closer to you.
Use a VPN: Sometimes, using a VPN can help reduce latency, especially if your ISP is routing traffic in a suboptimal way.
Check for External Interference: Other electronic devices, such as microwaves and cordless phones, can interfere with your Wi-Fi signal.
Optimize Your Router Settings: Tweaking settings like QoS (Quality of Service) can prioritize traffic from your gaming or streaming applications.
Remember, while a good download and upload speed are important, they don’t always guarantee low latency.
