PS5 internet connection issues

I recently switched my wifi from optimum to the Tmobile 5g Gateway. It connects to my phone and laptop and works wonderful but it won't seem to connect to my playstation no matter what I do. Ive tried switching the WPA version, the frequency band, both the network name and password and It refuses to connect to my system. What should I do app ???

My son has the same issue! Just bought and tried the ethernet cable and it didn't work.  I have an extender with the 2.4 & 5 ghz and had him sign on separately.  Only thing that works is his hot spot on his iPhone. Glad I landed here just on a google search, so I know we aren't the only one with this issue, specifically with T Mobile.

Did you find a fix for your sons ps5 im getting a connection to server timed out code net, but for only apex legends.  Absolutely nothing has worked to fix and it's most certainly due to tmobile as  I just tried Hotspot and works fine.  If it wasn't so slow I'd just use that

Thank you! I will try that next! This is so very frustrating.

@Jmorris2004, I don't have a PlayStation but I do understand connection issues. See the following response from one TM user used to solve their issue:

For me, my ps5 wouldn’t connect to my home internet until I switched the T-Mobile network settings from recommended (WPA3) to WPA/WPA2 and now it works

I would create a separate SSID (name it PlayStation), and set the security level to WPA/WPA2. Then restart both devices and see if you get a connection. Also, another TM user said they had success lowering the MTU to < 1420. But you need a separate WiFi router where you can adjust the MTU. The TM devices do not accommodate the adjustment.

Let us know how it works.

    • @Jmorris2004, I’m not much of a gamer but a few posts have said several different fixes worked.
    • try an Ethernet cable
    • set up a separate 2.4 and 5ghz SSIDs for the PlayStation so it’s not competing with other devices
    • after making changes then reboot both devices and try to connect the PlayStation

let us know what works  it might help someone else
