T-Mobile Internet Gateway Backward Compatibility

11 de marzo de 2023

Hello T-Mobile Community!

I am currently a customer of Spectrum Internet-5G service and will be replacing it with the T-Mobile Gateway.

My laptop wireless network adapter RF (Radio Frequency) is rated 802.11b/g/n/a and obviously I can connect to Spectrum’s 5G network as well as their 2.4GHz network.

I have hooked up the Arcadyan Gateway router and unfortunately I am unable to “see” either of the two wireless SSID names (2.4GHz and 5G) that I set up with the T-Mobile cellphone application.

However I am able to connect to the T-Mobile Gateway using an Ethernet cable.

So I’m guessing there is a backward compatibility issue between the Gateway and my wireless network adapter.

The Arcadyan Gateway technical specifications are:

5G NR: n25, n41, n66, n71
4G LTE: B2, B4, B5, B12, B41, B46 (for RX only), B66, B71

Does anyone know what I can do to correct this problem other than purchasing a USB wireless network adapter plug-in device that has the latest supported WiFi RF ?

Thank you in advance

  • By default, the Hidden switch is enabled on your default network. See if this doesn't fix the problem.

Using the phone app, tap the Network tab on the bottom. Tap the network you've set up. (If you want this to be seamless, give it the same name as what you were using with Sepctrum.) Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see a slide switch marked "Hidden." The switch is probably in the "On" position, so turn it off, then tap the Save button on the bottom.

Your gateway will reboot and you will now be able to see your network SSID advertising.

    ¡Buena suerte!

  • bocaboy2591,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. The Hidden switch you spoke of was already disabled so that wasn't the problem.

As it turns out, I needed to find the latest driver for the wireless adapter as the manufacturer (intel) dropped support at the end of last year and they didn’t provide a download site to at least see what the latest driver version is before ending support.

Luckily, I went to the intel community forum and found a retired gentlemen who had in his personal possession (One Drive) the latest driver for it. I installed it and now I can connect to the  T-Mobile 5G network.

Thank you again for your time!
